BAND TO PERFORM AT CMJ MUSIC MARATHON IN NEW YORK CITY FROM OCTOBER 18-21

SOPHOMORE ALBUM, THE LAST PLACE, NOW AVAILABLE IN STORES AND ONLINE VIA THE BAND’S OWN THE FEVER ZONE RECORDS

Los Angeles, CA-based indie-pop band Army Navy is excited to kick off their Fall US co-headlining tour. Sponsored by FILTER Magazine, the tour will also feature Santah on all dates and begins tonight (Wednesday, October 5) at Firebird in St. Louis, MO. Culminating in a performance at Subterranean in Chicago, IL, on Friday, October 28, the upcoming tour will be followed by a number of dates on the West Coast with Grand Archives in mid November. Army Navy is also scheduled to make several appearances during CMJ week that will include performances for Paste Magazine, PledgeMusic/Audio Perv, Pirate!, Big Hassle Media and WhoTune between October 18 and 21.

Recently the band released the music video for their song “Ode To Janice Melt.” Premiering via NPR Music’s “First Watch” on September 17, the video, directed by Jeremy Konner (“Drunk History”) and starring Jason Ritter (“The Event”/”Parenthood”) is a rather absurd look at a hidden relationship and a clip NPR went on to describe as “a brilliant and hilarious take on romance.” Check it out below.

Released on July 12, 2011 through the band’s very own The Fever Zone Records, The Last Place, an album that garnered Army Navy a recent Rolling Stone Magazine ‘Artist To Watch’ nod and what SPIN Magazine recently called “a feel-bad record you can actually feel good about” in their 8-out-of-10 album review, is the story of an intoxicating relationship gone awry and one’s ability to make sense of a truly tumultuous situation via bittersweet lyrics and shining guitars.

Recently Army Navy was also named an eMusic Selects artist, a coveted spotlight that featured and offered The Last Place to eMusic.com’s subscribers exclusively from June 14, 2011 – July 11, 2011. During its exclusivity, eMusic went on to describe The Last Place as “a poisoned Valentine dripping with equal parts beauty and scorn; imagine a Vulcan mind-meld between Teenage Fanclub’s Bandwagonesque and Marvin Gaye’s Here, My Dear and you’re there.” The eMusic Selects program started in 2008 to spotlight talented, unsigned bands and has served as a launching pad for some of today’s most sought-after indie bands. Best Coast, the Rural Alberta Advantage, Crystal Stilts and Julianna Barwick all released some early albums through the eMusic Selects program.
