NY-Berlin trio Fenster has premiered a brand new video for single ‘Oh Canyon’ with Team Coco. In the clip above the band explores the science of launching animals into space, as they ventured into the cosmos long before humans did. Directed Bryn Chainey, the video commemorates frogs, cats, dogs, and many other species who were the unsung pioneers of space exploration. Fenster will set its sights on the US next, as they return this week for East Coast performances, including a set at CMJ and three upcoming NYC shows. The band is touring in support of their debut full-length, Bones, out now on Morr Music.
Fenster began as New York native JJ Weihl and Berlin-based Jonathan Jarzyna started experimenting with de-constructed pop music, layering subtle distortions, melodic chords and city soundscapes under dream narratives. Bones takes its narrative structure from the associative logic of dreams, weaving morbid imagery and playful fairy tales together into a sardonic play against backdrops of dark forests, train rides, graveyards, mountains and seashores. With influences ranging from the Velvet Underground, to the sounds of broken records, the hum of a washing machine, or the faint melodies of oldies tunes through their kitchen radio, at times, you might be reminded of an American version of The xx.
