2012’s underground champs Low Cut Connie offer Hurricane Sandy victims music, money, debauchery, and lust

Low Cut Connie’s Call Me Sylvia has been kicking up dozens of rave reviews from the likes of Rolling Stone, NPR, NY Times, etc. with its brand of sweat-drenched, pelvis-swinging rock n roll.

The band has been chosen to entertain and titillate at the Rolling Stone Xmas Party, and recently recorded a live session for Jack White at his Third Man Records.

Here are some recent quotes about this very special and sensual band:

“The band’s excellent second record comes off like a drunk’s glove compartment of influences.”

– Rolling Stone

“[A] pathologically fun second record…their live show is a phenomenon.”

– The New York Times

“Low Cut Connie is one of an increasingly rare breed: a party band, a bar band, a band with a sense of rock ‘n’ roll history that isn’t weighed down by nostalgia”

– NPR / Fresh Air

“Like the best rock & roll of any era, this lives passionately and messily for the moment, and as Call Me Sylvia spills forth, it’s hard not to get swept into its giddy, filthy joy.”

– All Music Guide

“”If an alien landed and asked what rock ‘n’ roll is, you could start here.”

– Pop Matters

“[Their] most twisted fable of the down-and-dirty life to date…they’ve added muscle to their sound.”…A-

– Robert Christgau, aka the Dean of American Rock Critics

“The most important American band to come along in years.”

– Dave Marsh, legendary music critic, Sirius XM DJ and Springsteen biographer

As you’re making your end-of-year lists, consider these hearty sleazy tunes delivered with love.

The boys are rounding out this stellar year with a bunch of December tour dates, including two Hurricane Sandy benefit shows hosted by “The King of Free-Form Radio”, DJ Rich Russo. Rich has been playing Low Cut Connie religiously on his radio show “Anything, Anything” which airs in the greater-NYC area on 107.1 The Peak and 105.5 WDHA. The Tammany Hall show net proceeds will go to the Red Hook Initiative and the Mayor’s Fund and the Court Tavern show net proceeds will go to Restore the Shore and Tunnels to Towers (for Staten Island).
