TJ Lavin, one of the best BMX jumpers of all time and MTV’s Real World/Road Rules Challenge, was recently forced to cancel his plans to tour behind his recently released hip album entitled LAVS “The First Set” when he suffered compound fractures of the tibia and fibula in his left leg at the final stop of this year’s AST Dew Tour.

“Unfortuantely the injury I suffered at the Dew Tour has left me completely immobile for the next few months. The doctors have ordered me to stay off my leg, which means I not able to tour behind ‘The First Set’ until I’m completely healed,” says Lavin.”I was planning on doing a few shows with the Kottonmouth Kings and Big B, but now I’m home bound for awhile so I think Im just gonna start on the new album. The music you can make when your hurt is great because its all you have.

Undoubtedly one of the best BMX riders to even hit the dirt, Lavin has won almost every competition in existence including the DK Dirt Circuit Championship and 2 gold medals at the X Games and another at the Gravity Games. Lavin also is the host of MTV’s Real World/Road Rules Challenge, which he is currently filming its fifth season. In addition to his action sports and television success, music has always been a passion for Lavin who has been creating music for the last 10 years and producing tracks with Big B, OPM, Kottonmouth Kings and SubNoize Souljaz.

Lavin’s recently released debut album “The First Set”, was released on his newly founded independent label Chisle Records. Armed with an album full of club-banging beats and intensely personal lyrics, the album captures LAVS bearing his soul through his music. From the introspective “#1 Fan” through the club-banging beat of “Remember the Time” the album showcases LAVS depth as a songwriter and composer. The album closes with guest appearances from Johnny Richter of Kottonmouth Kings and Jon E
Necro from OPM on the track “Never Gonna Hold Me Down”.

“I just make songs about things that I’ve either seen firsthand or have lived it myself. I can’t see myself popping a bottle in the VIP section, but if I ever get caught in a club you’d see me with a bottle of water,” says LAVS. “I think the album has a humility that a lot of music is missing. It’s something that people can relate to rather than talking about G5 airplanes and Bentleys.”
