TEITH (MEMBER OF PELICAN) TO MAKE ITS DEBUT ON THIRTY GHOSTS RECORDS OAK CITY EP RELEASE DATE SET FOR OCTOBER 14 2008
Chicago based experimental noise collective Teith are set to release the Oak City EP on Austin, Texas label Thirty Ghosts Records on October 14 2008. Featuring Lisa Shelley, Josh Grubman, Trevor de Brauw (of Pelican) and Billy Baumann, Teith effortlessly meld influences ranging from Throbbing Gristle’s 20 Jazz and Funk Greats to Merzbow’s Rainbow Electronics, engaging IDM programming techniques, punk sound texture, and indie melodicism along the way. The result is Oak City, an EP that creates and disrupts patterns of high and low power, anodyne bass lines and minimal beats collapse and then reconvene under waves of sparked and wired homemade noise. Teith present an elegant balance of calm and dissonance, positioned with confidence on a fine line of calculated black outs and human / machine dynamics. Originally released on Migration Media in a limited edition pressing of handcrafted packages that sold out almost immediately in 2007, Austin based Thirty Ghosts Records will make Oak City available for world release on October 14.
