Glimpse has spent the last 7 years honing his production skills, culminating in a raw talent that is awed by a legion of top producers. Richie Hawtin championed his music back in 2001 and remixes of his tracks have been offered from the likes of Carl Craig, Jay Haze and Johnny D.
2009 begins with a Glimpse release on Carl Craig’s Planet E Label, as well as a new EP on his own Glimpse Recordings (a collaboration with Compost’s Jay Shepheard featuring the vocals of Ali Love). This year will also bring his debut studio album on Four Twenty Records and further worldwide touring with his live show, with dates already scheduled in North & South America, Japan and Europe
Glimpse starts the new year with some old skool flavour and a release on Planet E. This package includes a rare remix from the maestro himself, Mr Carl Craig and oozes infectious and emotive Detroit techno grooves. ‘Drifting’ was a track buried and forgotten on a hard drive until Glimpse’s friend and supporter Dean sent it on to Carl Craig, who immediately snapped it up for release. Topped with a rare remix from the man himself, this EP is reminiscent of an early Planet E release and classic techno cut, with glimmering synth sounds and choppy beats.
Christopher Spero AKA Glimpse is an experimenter with sound who finds true solace in music. Long heralded as a pioneer of underground electronic music amongst his peers, his tracks have found fans across the board including Luciano, Ricardo Villalobos, Marco Carola, Loco Dice, Jay Haze, Francois K, Jeff Mills and Richie Hawtin – who licensed his tracks to a MINUS compilation and champions many of his releases.
From an early age, Christopher Spero AKA Glimpse had an interest in jazz, blues and techno, performing in several bands and releasing electronic music on various UK based labels under different aliases. A creative mind, he then studied sculpture at Central Saint Martin’s art college, after which he started up Glimpse Recordings with Kompakt. Glimpse is one of a few UK labels to be distributed through the Cologne-based company. In 2008 Glimpse released the Black Collections album on the label in Asia, and did two sell out tours in Japan.
