The Golden Filter poised to be all the buzz this year at SXSW. The Golden Filter headline Hype Machine SXSW party, Gorilla vs. Bear, Big Stereo and Iheartcomix + North American Tour dates with The Presets
“The secretive New Yorkers wont be anonymous once this makes the leap from blogosphere to the masses” said NME moments before their limited debut UK single release “Solid Gold” (dummy). Indeed “The Golden Filter have set the ‘blogosphere’ alight with this frankly totally amazing track” PopJustice ‘Song Of The Day’. Paying such compliments like “Fucking brilliant” it’s no wonder BigStereo invited them on their SXSW showcase this year and HYPE Machine offered The Golden Filter their headlining slot. They’ll also be gracing the stages of Gorilla vs Booze, Iheartcomix (official SXSW showcase), SXSW day stage and a slew of others before setting off to support The Presets on their extensive North American Tour.
The Golden Filter are surely poised to be one of the most talked about bands in Austin.
And it’s not just their single which earned them their already rapid massive fanbase. In such a short amount of time their remix work has garnered worldwide attention and has quickly made The Golden Filter everyone’s most sought after remixing outfit. “A Feeling that Transcends genre” is what Pitchfork says about The Golden Filter’s remix of Peter Bjorn and John’s “Lay it Down” (Download HERE from Pitchfork). Perhaps it was their hypnotic take on Cut Copy’s “Far Away” (Download HERE from RCRD LBL) that attracted the attention of other local Oz Favorites Empire of the Sun, and the UKs most treasured Little Boots. Needless to say The Golden Filter’s original brew of mysticism and romance accompanied with the sounds of seductive analogue synths; are what everyone loves so very much about them. With influences such as Soft Cell and The Human League, Moroder and Kraftwerk, this is a band bringing back adventure, escapism and imagination back to pop music in the USA.
It’s clear we have one of the hottest new bands around and definite ones to watch in 2009!! Don’t miss The Golden Filter in Austin this year or at a stop near you on their upcoming nationwide tour.
