MP3: Loer Velocity – “Seasonal”

“And like the morning dew that sits, we drip infatuation…”

The Song:

Loer Velocity brings us “Seasonal,” the latest track from the free Uninfatuated EP, which follows a relationship over the course of a year. Backed by a languid, jazzy beat featuring a sexy organ melody, Loer opens by telling us about the girl he fell head over heels for in the springtime. The summer brought intimacy and strengthened their bond with each other, but as the climate changed outside, so too did Loer’s infatuation with his girl. With the coming of autumn, Loer begins questioning if he made the right choice in the first place, saying, “As November winds are rustling the leaves on Mother Earth / I’m covering turf thinking ’bout relationship’s worth.” He decides to put an end to the fling, but come the long and lonely cold of winter, he begins to second guess his decision.

The Background:

A local boy from Yonkers, Loer Velocity has been involved in the hip hop circuit since the mid 90’s, appearing at local venues such as S.O.B.’s and the Nuyorican Poets Café with then rising artists such as Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Sara Jones and Saul Williams. Since then, Loer has been proving himself as a skilled emcee starting with collaborations with Scienz of Life, Ace Lover, The Ancients and others as early as 1999. In 2004, Loer released his first single “Breakout”, and followed this up with a mixtape entitled Loe Noise Reduction-The Hush Movement, receiving mention in XXL’s Chairman’s Choice column. 2006 marked the release of his first solo album, Ready For A Renaissance, getting rave reviews from its listeners, including a 4/5 score from URB magazine. Most recently, Loer has recorded a free release in celebration of Valentine’s Day, which he titled Uninfatuated EP. Loer Velocity has been making good music for years, and now, working closely with the folks at Embedded Music, he is establishing himself as one of the premier emcees in the game.
