Upon relocating from Brighton, England to sunny Silverlake in LA, Adam Freeland initiated the creation of what many would argue as a departure album, yet he considers it simply another color in his already impressive and large musical palette. Instead of his usual break-beat electro approach he’s so famously reknowned for, Freeland has put together the ultimate hybrid album, showcasing the roots of electronic music that he helped pioneer and the elements of rock music that he found most interesting and is inspired by.
Co-produced by one of the UK’s rising new stars of the electronic world Alex Metric (Autokratz, Locarnos, Ladyhawke, Hard-Fi), and mixed by South Rukkas Crew and Uberzone. COPE™ also features collaborations with such luminaries of the rock world such as Tommy Lee (Motley Crue), Joey Santiago (The Pixies), Twiggy Ramirez (NIN, Marilyn Manson), Jerry Casale (DEVO) and Brody Dalle (Distillers/Spinnerette).
Indeed, psychedelic drone rock redolent of Freeland’s move from his native U.K. to the California desert reverberates throughout ‘Cope™’, from the swirling shoegaze of ‘Silent Speaking'(written and performed with Brooklyn Pitchfork faves SoundPool) to the heart wrenching, Sigur Ros-like ‘Mancry’.
In this short video clip Adam Freeland invites the viewer into his home and offers insight into the origins of the track “Do You” and a video chat with drummer Tommy Lee.
Freeland’s versatility and pioneering spirit s what allows him to concurrently exist as one of the most in demand DJs in the club world and as a member of a band touring the rock circuit in a van.
Be sure to catch Freeland’s new full live band set up on tour through out May and back again in June (dates TBA) along with DJ gigs coming in July.
Many are already saying that ‘Cope™’ is the most ambitious project in Freeland’s career. You can be the judge of that when COPE™ drops on June 9th (Marine Parade).
Beginning on May 13th fans will also be able to pre-order Cope™ in a variety of different packages, including a Limited Deluxe Edition that will only be available if purchased directly from Freeland.FM
