Shaheen Sheik and Arabian Prince AKA Professor X to Collaborate on New Release The renowned artist says “Shaheen’s music is a fresh perspective on life and sound that should be exposed to the world”

Shaheen Sheik and Arabian Prince are both excited about collaborations for their upcoming releases. These Southern California artists have a wide range of history, talents, and personalities that are sure to enhance each other’s creativity.

They first met at a Propellerhead Reason party, where they talked about music and world politics, and Arabian took a copy of Shaheen’s latest CD: Revolution. While she did not recognize Arabian at first, through their discussions Shaheen realized that he was a founding member of N.W.A. and produced some of the most relevant electro-funk tracks that she grew up with and danced to in her family room back in the Cleveland suburbs. After listening to Shaheen’s album, Arabian said he was impressed that she produced it herself, and it sounded different from what you hear every day. He believes that Shaheen’s music is innovative, has a fresh perspective on life, and it is a sound that should be exposed to the world. Sheik hopes for their collaboration to produce “funky, fabulous dance music,” in which people can both connect to and have fun with.

Shaheen Sheik is based in Los Angeles, California, and is known as one of the most promising young artists in the World Music scene. Her popularity spreads from the United States to India, and she has been named “India’s Answer to Sheryl Crow” by the Mumbai Press. She has released two full-length studio albums, “Rock Candy” and “REVOLUTION,” the latter appropriately named for its breakthrough lyrics and sounds that enabled her to be “carefree, seductive and compassionate” all within her music. Through her work with Arabian Prince, she will undoubtedly continue to conquer new grounds.

Arabian Prince AKA Professor X stems from quite a different background, which is diverse in every manner. He is a DJ from the Los Angeles region who has worked with many ground-breaking musicians. In the 1980s, he started out co-hosting a radio show, and experimenting with production skills. He later began contributing to and producing albums, such as his debut album Situation Hot, which attained gold status in 1985. Arabian was then part of the creation of well-known LA gangsta rap group, N.W.A. By 1987, Arabian collaborated with Eazy-E and Dr. Dre, and they all used their connections to pick up Ice Cube and MC Ren. Arabian also produced the platinum-selling hit, Supersonic, by girl group JJ Fad. Today, he is often in his studio writing and producing many of the top hits on the current radio stations, and has even started video games and film special effects companies. Shaheen describes Arabian as “one of the most down-to-earth, honest artists I’ve met, and that comes through in his music and his work ethic.”

These very different artists work very well together: Shaheen expresses that Arabian gives her space to be her own artist, to tell her own artistic story; and Arabian is into the world sounds that Shaheen uses for her music. Through their combination of influences from around the world, from India to the LA rap scene, there is no doubt that their work together will be a huge success.
