New York, 9 October 2009 – EMI Music Publishing, the world’s leading publisher of popular music, has signed an exclusive [global] co-publishing deal with talented songwriter and vocalist Jared Cotter.

Cotter co-wrote “Down” by Jay Sean featuring Lil Wayne, which this week knocked the Black Eyed Peas from the summit of the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time in 26 weeks. The track also tops the Hot 100 Airplay chart, with 115 million listener impressions, and has moved 1.5 million downloads since its release.

As well as writing for Jay Sean, Cotter will have a song called “It Ain’t Christmas” featured on R&B vocalist Joe’s forthcoming festive album. In addition to his writing and performing, the former American Idol finalist is an on-air host with Fuse TV, and is in talks to host a new gameshow on cable TV.

The agreement will see EMI Music Publishing represent Cotter’s songs on a long-term basis, working with music clients across all forms of media to secure commercial opportunities across the world. He will be A&R’d by EMI Music Publishing Senior Creative Director Leotis Clyburn, and work closely with President of West Coast Creative Big Jon Platt.
