Zumbi is the MC half of Oakland based Underground Hip Hop sensation Zion I, which also consists of producer Amp Live. The group has just rapped up a 26 show tour stretching from NY throughout the Midwest, trailing back to Cali, and Zumbi finally has the time to present his fans with the 4th installment of his Science Of Breath series. “Science of Breath Vol 4” is slated to release November 24, 2009 and features a notable cast consisting of Talib Kwali, K’Naan, J Period, Mistah F.A.B, and producer Lee Bannon. The album also features unreleased songs off the upcoming Zumbi & the Are aka “The Burnerz” project, which will be released early 2010. The “Science of Breath” series is dedicated to pure lyricism within the culture of Hip Hop. The collection has featured highly exalted MC’s such as: Black Thought (the Roots), K’naan, Talib Kweli, Mistah Fab, Planet Asia, Gift of Gab, Chali2na, and more. “I started it as a way to connect back to fans who want their music raw and uncut, no filters and no fluff.” – Zumbi.

Zion I has released a slew of LP’s, all reaching critical acclaim. Their last 4 records (Hero’s In The City of Dope, True & Livin’, Mind Over Matter, Deep Water Slang) experienced independent success each selling over 20,000 units. Their track “Don’t Lose Your Head” on Too Shorts “I Love The Bay” compilation which features independent Bay Area artists, was by far the best selling track and moved 41,756 digital units. 2000’s Mind Over Matter was nominated for Best Independent Album by the Source, 2003’s Deep Water Slang was nominated for Best Independent Album by the Source, and by Vibe Magazine, 2005’s True & Livin’ was nominated for Best Independent Album by the Source also. The group has also collaborated with Talib Kweli, Aesop Rock, Del Tha Funkee Homosapien and Gift of Gab, Living Legends, The Grouch.
