ENTERS BILLBOARD TOP 200 CHART AT NO. 5

Collection Spotlights 52nd Annual GRAMMY Awards Nominees And

Benefits MusiCares® and the GRAMMY Foundation®

The 2010 GRAMMY® Nominees CD, which was released Jan. 19 by The Recording Academy®’s GRAMMY® Recordings® in partnership with EMI Music, debuted today at No. 5 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart, selling more than 48,000 units and besting the first week sales and chart position of the 2009 collection. The 16th edition of the best-selling series highlights artists and songs nominated for the 52nd Annual GRAMMY Awards and a portion of the proceeds from the sale of the CD will benefit the MusiCares® Foundation and the GRAMMY Foundation®, two charitable organizations established by The Recording Academy. In a review the New York Post wrote that “the annual GRAMMY collection remains the best chronicler of what was hot in music,” while the Denver Post called the album “a comprehensive listen to the music that dominated 2009” and “an excellent primer.”

The disc contains many of the most widely recognized GRAMMY categories with 20 tracks representing nominees for Record Of The Year, Album Of The Year, Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, Best Pop Vocal Album, Best Country Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals, and Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals. The CD is made possible by a special arrangement with all of the major music distribution companies and rotates labels from year to year.

The 52nd Annual GRAMMY Awards will be held Jan. 31 at STAPLES Center in Los Angeles, and will be broadcast live in high-definition TV and 5.1 Surround Sound on the CBS Television Network from 8 – 11:30 p.m. (ET/PT).
