Sergio Mendes New Album Bom Tempo Contest

To celebrate the May 4th release of Sergio Mendes’ new album Bom Tempo, Concord Records and Fusicology are calling all friends, fans, enthusiasts, and artists, to produce and direct a video set to music from the album. Bom Tempo is a festive celebration of life interweaving elements of pop, jazz and world music into a vibrant tapestry that could only be realized by the legendary Brazilian artist.

Just make a video set to the music of “Emorio” and you’ll have a chance to win a $500 gift package! 2 Runners up will receive Amazon gift packages as well, with $250 going to the first runner up and a $100 gift card going to the 2nd runner up! Additionally, the first 10 video producers whose videos reach 1000 views will receive a special Sergio Mendes prize pack that includes all of Sergio’s CD releases on Concord Records!

Here’s how MVRemix readers can enter:

1) Fill out a short ASSET REQUEST FORM here:

Once you’ve done that, you’ll be sent an official form and the track parts for your video mashup pleasure!

2) Create your own “Emorio” video and upload to vimeo (if you do not currently have a vimeo account, please create one—they are free to create). Use whatever you want to make your video such as pictures, cell phones, still cameras, surveillance videos, reel to reel cams, etc., but make sure the video is not prohibited by copyright. It should be your personal footage or in the public domain

3) When your video is finished, join the Vimeo group Sergio Mendes’ Bom Tempo Video Carnival and add the video to the group to submit your entry.

4) Start sharing your video with family and friends. To win this competition and take the grand prize, your video will need to receive to most views of all videos submitted to the group. The runners up will have the videos that received the 2nd and 3rd most views of all video submissions.

5) All entries must be submitted by midnight EST on (4/3/10). No exceptions. The videos that receive the most views will win so you’ll want to promote the videos as much as possible! The winning entries will be featured on with the producers receiving some fabulous Gift prizes!

Entering Contest

The Contest will begin on March 4, 2010 and end at 11:59 p.m. on April 3, 2010 (“Contest Period”). All entries must be received by 11:59 p.m. (EST) on April 3, 2010. To enter the Contest: (1) Create your own fan-made music video using any of the audio provided on the website (indicated below) utilizing any footage created by you, owned by you, or that is in the public domain. The fan-made music video must be at least three minutes in length; (2) Complete an entry form found at the following web URL:; and (3) Follow the instructions on the website, or posted at, for posting your fan-made music video. All footage must be originally created material, material owned by the entrant, or material in the public domain, that has never been entered into any other contest or won a prize. No unauthorized use of any copyrighted material may be used. As a condition of entry, entrants hereby assign to Sponsor all rights, title and interest in and to the submission. The music video cannot contain any commercial endorsements, nudity, profanity or extreme violence or disparage any person or entity. The foregoing requirements and restrictions will be strictly enforced and any submissions that do not comply with all of the foregoing requirements will be disqualified in the sole discretion of Sponsor. Entrants are limited to one entry per person. Any effort by the entrant to misrepresent themselves through the use of aliases will be disqualified. Entries received prior to or after the Contest Period will be disqualified.


The Contest is open to all legal residents of the United States and those who are fourteen (14) years of age and over at the time of entry in the Contest. Employees, their immediate families or household members, of Concord Music Group, Inc. and each of its respective parent companies, affiliates and subsidiaries are ineligible to participate in this Contest. The Grand Prize Winner (as defined hereinafter), the First Runner Up (as defined hereinafter), the Second Runner Up (as defined hereinafter), and Consolation Award Winners (as defined hereinafter) (individually and collectively “Winner” or “Winners”) will be subject to proving eligibility, including, but not limited to, verification of the Winners’ names, ages and social security numbers. If the Winners cannot furnish verifiable and valid proof of age within forty-eight (48) hours after being notified of winning the Contest, an alternate grand prize winner, runner up(s), and/or consolation prize winners may be chosen from among the eligible entries received, in the Sponsor’s sole discretion. The grand prize winner will receive an gift certificate in the amount of five hundred dollars ($500) (“Grand Prize Winner”). The first runner up prize winner will receive an gift certificate in the amount of two hundred and fifty dollars ($250.00) (“First Runner Up”). The second runner up winner will receive an gift certificate in the amount of one hundred dollars ($100) (“Second Runner Up”). Federal, state and local taxes on the prizes are the sole responsibility of Winners. The prizes are non-transferable, non-refundable, and cannot be exchanged for cash. Any other expenses not specifically mentioned as being included as part of the prizes are excluded and are the sole responsibility of the Winners. No substitution, transfer of the prizes or any part of the prize package is permitted, except by the Sponsor due to prize unavailability at the time of awarding the prizes. Selection and Notification

One (1) Grand Prize Winner, one (1) First Runner Up and one (1) Second Runner Up will be selected from among the eligible entries received. The winning videos will be selected based on the amount of views each video receives by the end date of the Contest Period. The video with the highest view count by the end of the Contest Period will be declared the Grand Prize Winner. The video with the second highest view count will be declared the First Runner Up. The video with the third highest view count will be declared the Second Runner Up. Additionally, the first ten (10) videos that receive one thousand views (1,000) will receive a prize pack that includes all of the commercially released Sergio Mendes compact discs released on Concord Records (“Consolation Award Winners”). The Winners will be selected on April 20th, 2010 and will be notified by email, telephone or first-class mail. This date shall be subject to change at the Sponsor’s sole discretion.

The Sponsors shall not be liable for failed, returned or misdirected notifications or the prizes based on inaccurate information provided by the winner, entries and responses to winner notifications which are lost, late, incomplete, illegible, unintelligible, misdirected, damaged or otherwise not received by the intended recipient in whole or in part or for computer or technical error of any kind. The Winners will be given five (5) business days from the first day of notification to claim the prizes. A non-response or non-receipt of notification after the specified five (5) business days will be considered forfeiture of the prizes and an alternate may be selected from the pool of eligible entries.

Right to Broadcast Video Submissions and Release

Except where legally prohibited, the acceptance of any prize constitutes permission by the Winners for Sponsor to use their video submissions names, photographs, likenesses, voices, addresses (city and state) and testimonials, in printed, broadcast or new media now known or hereafter devised, in perpetuity, in any manner Sponsor deems appropriate in connection with promoting this or any other contest and/or promotion sponsored by them, without further compensation to the Winners. If any likenesses of third parties or other elements not owned by the Winners is included as part of their video submissions, the Winners agree to provide legal uses to the Sponsor for such use. The Winners may be required to provide releases if requested by Sponsor. The Winners must each sign: (a) an affidavit of eligibility and a release of the Sponsor from any and all liability, claims, demands, and causes of action for personal injury and/or damage, theft, or loss suffered in connection with this promotion or the use or acceptance of the prize or any portion thereof to be eligible for the prize; and (b) where permitted, a promotional release granting the right to use his or her name and likeness for advertising and publicity purposes without additional compensation. The Winners must also complete all legal documents and return them to the Sponsor within three (3) working days after receipt of such documents. Noncompliance will result in disqualification and an alternate will be selected by the Sponsors from the remaining eligible entries.

General Conditions

This Contest is void where prohibited by law and is subject to all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations. In the event of non-compliance or violation by the Winner(s) of these Official Rules, the Winner(s) will be immediately disqualified and terminated as the Winner(s) of this Contest and an alternative Winner(s) will be awarded the respective prize.

By participating in this Contest, entrants agree that the Sponsor, those involved in the development, production, implementation and distribution of this promotion and their respective parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, service providers, and agencies, and their directors, officers, agents, employees, attorneys, and any other person or entity associated with such entities and/or promotion shall not be liable for any and all claims, damages, losses or injuries to entrants including any third party claims, arising from or relating to, in whole or in part, this Contest, including (1) entry and participation in this Contest; (2) acceptance, possession, use or misuse of the prize; and (3) traveling to, preparing for, or participating in any prize related activity. Sponsor is not responsible for (i) any technical malfunctions of the telephone network, computer online system, computer dating mechanism, computer equipment, software, internet service provider, interruption or inability to access any website or online service via the internet due to hardware or software compatibility problems; (ii) any loss of the entry form; and (iii) any damage to entrants’ (or any third person’s) computer and/or any lost or delayed data transmissions, omissions, interruptions, defects or any other errors or malfunctions.
