FOOL’S GOLD FOLLOW UP WHIRLWIND SXSW SHOWS WITH RELEASE OF REMIX AND VIDEO FOR “NADINE” AND SELECT NORTH AMERICAN DATES!

After the flurry of seven SXSW shows and two amazing performances with Tinariwen in New York City, Fool’s Gold are ready to kick it up a notch, announcing an April European tour, followed by select dates on the west coast of the continent, including a performance at Sasquatch! Music Festival and a blowout at the Hollywood Bowl in June. On top of that, they are releasing the stylishly crafted video for their bouncy number, “Nadine.”

Directed By Adria Petty, the video for “Nadine” captures Fool’s Gold inside a mausoleum at The Hollywood Forever Cemetery on a rare rainy Los Angeles night. The song laments the mysteries of desire with a nod to early American R&B and Ethiopian soul. The band performed live for a few dozen friends and thousands were in attendance.

In addition to the video, the band is releasing a remix of “Nadine” by Acid Girls, taking the instantly agreeable rubber band bass-line of the original and giving it a further sense of urgency that can only be resolved on the dance floor.

Aside from praise coming from the usual suspects for the band’s electrifying SXSW shows, they are now officially Bill Murray-approved, as the Ghostbuster himself was seen enjoying the entirety of Fool’s Gold’s set at the Windish Agency showcase. So, they’ve got that going for them . . . which is nice.

As for the established music press, their cell phones were a-twitter and blogs a-flutter with praises of Fool’s Gold’s performances:

“At last night’s packed IAMSOUND showcase, I was reminded most of ‘Regatta’-era Police and early Talking Heads. Or maybe Dave Grusin. All excellent things to be reminded of. . . it was refreshing to start St. Patrick’s Night with this remarkably tight eleven piece” – Stereogum

“The band made it impossible to stand still–in part because we were in such close proximity to their dancing bodies, which snaked through the crowd, and because there was no stage between us…The industry part of SXSW faded quickly–I didn’t see one person using a phone for once–as we were instead being transported to a humid basement bash. There was a genuine enthusiasm for the music being played–from the musicians themselves and those of us hanging around to hear it.” – SF Weekly’s All Shook Down Blog

“Simply put, this band actually makes me wanna dance” – Nashville Scene’s Nashville Cream Blog

“We had no idea they were so impossibly entertaining live. Even their acclaimed album sounds pale compared to the jam explosion they unfurled on stage. Gold’s sunny aesthetic perfectly matched that beautiful day in Austin — almost as if the weather were a member of the band.” – Heeb Magazine

“Fool’s Gold, sounding awesome as usual, took their tropical dance party and conga-line out of the venue, taking off in a pedicab while still playing. Two pinkies up for that exit!” – Donnybrook Writing Academy
