SCION A/V ANNOUNCES 2ND EDITION OF RADIO 17 HOST EPs TO BE RELEASED 9/7 MAX GLAZER- 5 THE HARD WAY AND ROB SWIFT- SKETCHES OF THE ARCHITECT LATEST IN INNOVATIVE SERIES

With the latest supplement to their ongoing Radio 17 Host EP series, Scion A/V continues to explore new realms of sonic expression, delving head-first into sun-soaked riddims and unforgiving turntable mayhem from the likes of Max Glazer and Rob Swift respectively. Both EPs will see a physical release on September 7th and feature a small book containing original art work and notes on the project from its creator. The EPs will be available for sale digitally October 12th.

Accomplished turntablist and founding member of New York DJ crew the X-Ecutioners, Rob Swift’s EP is comprised of unused material from his last album The Architect. The Scion A/V Radio 17 Host EP Rob Swift- Sketches of the Architect opens with excerpts from an interview in which Swift explains the means by which his latest music became so heavily influenced by classical compositions. The host of Scion Radio 17 channel “Dope On Plastic” layers thick strings with heavy boom-bap and cuts in other vocal taunts and percussive horn stabs throughout to paint a cohesive tapestry that’s equal parts head-nodding and thought-provoking. As if it couldn’t get any better, guest vocalist Breez Evahflowin of the venerable Juggaknots bumps knuckles with Swift to solidify a New York throwback dream team on the standout songs “Principio Remix” and “Ultimo Remix.” The accompanying booklet is an illustrated narrative of his creative process regarding the album, which started as an argument with his girlfriend and ended as his greatest achievement.

The head honcho behind the Federation Sounds collective and host of Scion Radio 17 channel “Federation Invasion”, Max Glazer has had his hand in the audio import business for 11 years. A vacation for the ears, his sunny disposition shines bright on this addition to the Scion Radio 17 Host EP series, Max Glazer- 5 The Hard Way. Mr. Lexx’s “Brand New Ride” leads the pack with a catchy vocal line that immediately assaults the listener. On “Goodbye”, Ricky Blaze composes searing Dancehall that bounces along Caribbean syncopation. The sultry taunt of “Downtown Girls” by TNT (Timberlee, Natalie Storm, and Tifa) elicits a chest-pounding retort from Redddaz’s “Fi Di Ladies”. Naturally, the imagery of the included pamphlet pulls a page out of the dub history book (The name itself could even be interpreted as a reference to the 1972 reggae film, The Harder They Come).

Both EPs are available to stream and download for free at the Scion A/V website, via the Scion AV Radio App for the iPhone ®, iPod Touch ®, and iPad ®, and are for sale at all major digital music retailers. In its continual effort to show support for the arts, Scion covers all production, licensing and distribution costs for the A/V projects, and all proceeds go directly back to the label and artists involved.
