Miami Horror Debuts New Video for “Echoplex,” Wraps Up US Tour Dates

Miami Horror Wraps Up Debut US Tour w/Sold-Out Show in LA

Debuts New Video for “Echoplex” featuring MAI

Melbourne-based group Miami Horror just wrapped up a successful first tour of the US with a sold-out show in LA this past weekend! After touring both coasts and making stops in Chicago, Miami and Texas, they’ve debuted a brand new video for the track “Echoplex (featuring Swedish singer MAI)” with AOL Spinner, who called it a “four-and-a-half-minute seduction, both musically and visually.” Click here for the Vimeo link.

Shot on location in Syndey and directed by Cara Stricker, “Echoplex” is off Miami Horror’s recently-released debut album, Illumination, which features contributions from Swedish singer MAI, Melbourne-based chanteuse Kimbra, Dappled Cities’ Tim Derricourt, and Neon Indian/Vega’s Alan Palomo. This video continues the band’s trend for releasing visually-stimulating components to their singles, the last one being for “I Look To You (feat. Kimbra).”

Named one of the most blogged about artists by The Independent (UK), here’s what some other folks had to say about Miami Horror:

“Influenced by pop artists of the 1970s and ’80s like ABBA and Prince, [Miami Horror] from Sydney are poised to become every disco balls’ new bestie.” – New York Post, ‘You Must Know’
“…Miami Horror, the Aussie outfit who make music so beautiful it hurts…sound so robust it makes the disco it emulates almost pale in comparison.” -Black Book

“…they’re a synthesis of so many sounds ranging from disco, prog rock like ELO, some 80’s like Talking Heads, trip hop and so many other sounds to neatly pigeon hole.” – Examiner.com

“Miami Horror manages to stand out among the clutter, though, by doing it just as well, if not better, than everyone else.”- The Dallas Observer

“As a debut album, Illumination is a wonderful start of something we hope to be around for a long time.” – Chicagoist

“…a jazzy, beachy vibe that would fit well at any club.” – Miami New Times
