Polyester signs to FrankRadio / iHipHop Distribution and drops first single “Weekend Chicc” Featuring Dom Kennedy

FrankRadio & iHipHop Distribution are proud to announce the signing of LA’s Hottest new producer, Polyester the Saint. The producer, rapper, singer and multi-instrumentalist was the driving force behind 2009’s Curly Tops & Nautica Jackets, a scene-capturing, L.A.-artists-only mixtape that featured Pac Div, U-N-I, Blu and Dom Kennedy, among others. The idea proved to be a prescient one, as Pac Div, U-N-I and Dom Kennedy have all built a major buzz since then, with Poly’s help. Poly and Dom Kennedy have worked particularly close together since then, with Poly contributing beats to Kennedy’s Future Street/Drug Sounds and From the Westside with Love mixtapes, and Poly has also helped to launch the career of Marz Lovejoy by producing her debut EP (This Little Light Of Mine). “People are like, ‘How did you know that they were going to be this,’ or, ‘How did you know Dom [Kennedy] was going to be what he is today?'” Poly says. “It wasn’t that I knew that but that’s what the plan was. That’s what I went in to do, to make some noise. And we’re making noise right now.”

Now Polyester, who’s also produced for Too Short and E-40 and collaborates regularly with electro-soul duo J*DaVeY and Sa-Ra’s Taz Arnold, is stepping out with his own solo album, Peace Love Unity Respect, dropping on 12/7/10. Far from traditional hip-hop, his eclectic, leftfield sound borrows equally from jazz and funk—think Andre 3000’s The Love Below, if it came from the West Coast in 2010. A drummer since the age of 5, his plan initially was to become a touring musician. But his life changed when a close friend of his father’s—none other than Stevie Wonder—gave him a Yamaha keyboard for Christmas at age 13. The rest is history.

Now, after years working behind the boards on projects for other artists, Poly is finally in the driver’s seat with his own music. Check out the lead single “Weekend Chicc” Featuring Dom Kennedy, Produced by L.A.U.S.D. (Polyester & Lazy Lou) off his upcoming album.

About Us
*iHipHop Distribution was founded in 2009 in an attempt to provide artists with a new paradigm for distributing not only their music, but their image, brand, content and everything imaginable. The starting point was to rethink the music business with the premise that first and foremost, we are not a record label, but rather, distributors of culture. As a result, in its inaugural year, iHipHop Distribution and its strategic partner FrankRadio were instrumental in catapulting Wiz Khalifa to his second major label deal with Atlantic Records. Our unique partnerships with companies such as Frank151 (FrankRadio), the iHipHop Media Network & more enable us to create awareness for our partners in a very cost-effective and rapid manner. iHipHop Distribution has made it a point to focus on the youngest generation of hip-hop fans and artists. The internet has made it possible for artists to express themselves at an extremely young age, and thus has created a void in the marketplace for a company such as iHipHop Distribution to support this talent. As Fall and Winter approach, stay on the lookout for iHipHop Distribution to be bringing you the freshest music, talent and experience in the independent hip-hop world.
