Riding straight off the momentum of three well received singles (“Golden,” “The Man,” and “The Plague” feat. YC the Cynic), Top $ Raz is aimed to take the New York underground scene by storm with his album “The New Flesh.” Set for a February 22nd release, Top $ Raz’s newest project guarantees him a place as one of Hip-Hop’s most anticipated Spring 2011 albums.

Featuring New York favorite YC the Cynic, “The Plague” is a haunting lyrical onslaught where Top $ Raz paints a vivid picture of the streets that is both familiar and poetic. With lyrics like, “you praying to God why bother, when most girls get on their knees for our Father,” it is no wonder why critics like 2dopeboyz.com and HipHopDX have raved about this track.

“I’m always impressed with Raz’s music,” says YC the Cynic, “but I feel like ‘The New Flesh’ takes his listeners to the next level by improving upon his previous work. You’ll still get the emotion-evoking songs that initially made him a standout Emcee (MC) in New York but now his lyrical prowess and hit-making abilities have really become evident. I think this will be his breakout album, definitely.”

Armed with sharp and hard hitting production from Brown Bag AllStar affiliate J57, Thinker, Coole High, KO Beatz, and many more, Top $ Raz’s “The New Flesh” alludes to the new flesh created by the scars of life as being stronger than the flesh before. “This is probably the most work I’ve put into anything ever in my entire life,” says Top $ Raz. “People are definitely going to respond to the effort I have put into this lyrical project. I simply don’t believe in shortcuts and am relying on that to differentiate me from other young MCs.”

Songs like the cinematic intro “Mountains” and stadium-banging “The One,” are produced with an aim to set a new standard of hype in the underground scene. The entire album, mastered by seasoned veteran (and Homeboy Sandman affiliate) Alejandro “Sosa” Tello Jr., will bump in any stereo system. “You’re gonna wanna turn this one up loud,” says Top $ Raz. “The lyrics and the production are strong. Everything about this album is extra strength. That’s what ‘The New Flesh’ is all about, becoming stronger through one’s experiences.”

With the album at completion, Top $ Raz is hard at work with a six piece band preparing for his album release party; scheduled for February 23rd at the go-to spot for outstanding underground Hip-Hop, Southpaw (125 5th Avenue, Brooklyn).

To compliment the album release, Top $ Raz distributed a short promo video for his hit street leak “Golden” yesterday; while February 16th he is set to perform at Kenny’s Castaways (157 Bleecker Street, New York). Washington DC fans will be happy to know that Top $ Raz will be performing there on February 19th at Indulj (1208 U Street NW, Washington D.C.) for a special J Dilla Tribute. Chatter surrounding “The New Flesh” continues on through March when the music video for “The Man” (directed by Noisemaker Media) is set to be released.
