“Sucker Free Week: Hip Hop N Hoops – Legacy” to Take Fans Behind the Scenes of NBA All-Star Weekend and Premiere of the Rucker Park EBC Documentary “Blackout”

Sucker Free’s Black History Month on MTV2 continues to honor hit makers with the exclusive on-air premiere of the new Purp and Yellow music video by Snoop Dogg, The Game and DJ Skee on Sunday February 20th at 11pm ET/PT. The premiere of Purp and Yellow kicks off “Sucker Free Week: Hip Hop N Hoops – Legacy” celebrating the close relationship between entertainment titans and the world of basketball.

The best of both worlds come together to blend hip hop with hoops as, Snoop Dogg, The Game and producer DJ Skee are joined by LA Lakers players Matt Barnes, Shannon Brown and Ron Artest to show love to the left coast. Directed by Matt Alonzo, Purp and Yellow is the latest anthem calling out the Cali’s breezy way of life.

In addition to the music video premiere, DJ Envy will catch up with of hip-hop’s most socially conscious rappers, Talib Kweli, as he takes a break from performing new material off his new album Gutter Rainbows to talk about the continual importance of recognizing Black History Month. Sucker Free will also give viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the documentary, Blackout, about the infamous Rucker Park EBC Championship game between Jay-Z and Fat Joe that will premiere in Los Angeles during the NBA All-Star Weekend.

Throughout the week, “Sucker Free Daily” will continue the “Hip Hop N Hoops” theme with videos highlighting rappers’ love of the game, as well as testimonials from celebrities and fans alike on the importance of hip hop in 2011.

The week will be capped off with an off-the-court look at the NBA All-Star Weekend, taking place in Los Angeles at the Staples Center, on Sucker Free Countdown, airing February 27th at 11pm ET/PT. In addition, the Sucker Free cameras will take viewers inside the premiere of Blackout, while celebrities take a break from the action to express their thoughts on Black History Month and the Legacies they are personally working to carry on. And if that’s not enough – viewers will get the exclusive first look at the emerging artists selected to grace the XXL April issue Freshmen 10 cover.
