DEBUT ALBUM “PREP TIME” COMING MARCH 29th

Out of Toronto, Canada comes The Works. A mash up of vinyl purism and culinary experimentation, the group cement their ideals with the release of their new track
“Crate Bugz Anthem.” Emcee G Roc explains “This song is dedicated to record collectors everywhere as well as our crew, who are called The Crate Bugz.” The song is a preview of their debut album “Prep Time” which will drop March 29th (available at http://theworkshiphop.tumblr.com/) and is made up of sampled beats purely taken from vinyl sources.

G Roc who established his name with his former project Golden Disciples, made waves with their Full-length 2008’s “Discipline Hearts” (which guested U.S. emcees Insight (Y Society), Oddisee of Low Budget, Braille and Dagha). Of the album Alternative Press said “Discipline hearts is reminiscent of 90s underground hip hop, it’s gritty and raw but quite catchy at the same time.” Rap Review.com echoed the sentiment saying the album was “a union of unconventional hip hop and powerful lyricism to show what Canadian hip hop is capable of.”
Picking up where Golden Disciples left off G Roc has teamed up with Producer Richie Betz as well as DJ Mikey Smalls as The Works. The group initially formed when Betz engineered a session for Golden Disciples at a recording studio And Roc and Betz discovered their shared love of classic breaks and culinary experimentation.

What can you expect from the Prep Time album? Listeners will be immersed in the tastes and smells of G Roc’s “kitchen”. Crate Bugz will create images of a 3-course meal; seasoned with G Rocs refreshingly ripe lyricism and a plethora of classic boom bap beats courtesy of Richie Betz that will make this meal Zagat rated.
