After a whirlwind visit to New York in late October to promote the release of their highly anticipated US exclusive re-release of debut full length ‘Visionaries,’ Parallels are proud to announce a selection of US tour dates to celebrate the start of Spring and their newest single, ‘Salomé’ available digitally March 20, 2011 (Full details below).
This electronic-pop dup have been wowing audiences with their vintage synth-driven licks and uptempo HI-NRG rhythm patterns. Likened to acts such as Giorgio Moroder, New Order and Depeche Mode, Parallels was born when drummer Cameron Findlay, former drummer of Crystal Castles, partnered up with the sweet-voiced Holly Dodson to complete a selection of tracks he had been working on. Debut single ‘Ultralight’ was all it took for them to be recognized by music lovers across the globe, for their incredible music video and soonafter, a feature on a recent Kitsune Records compilation.
Parallels – Ultralight video
With vocal stylings that have been compared to the intense balladry of Kate Bush and the sweetness of Kylie Minogue and Madonna’s true-blue era, honey-haired front girl Holly Dodson channels the magnetism of free-spirited predecessors like Marianne Faithful and Stevie Nicks whilst weaving together sounds of static circuitry with lilting neu-Italo undertones into a patchwork of complex sonic stratums.
Parallels have shared the stage with internationally-acclaimed artists such as Florence and the Machine, The Juan MacLean, Sebastian Tellier, Crystal Castles, Midnight Juggernauts, A-Trak, Broken Social Scene and Miami Horror. Be sure not to miss one of their upcoming shows coming to a town near you!
Keep watch for news announcements on a new album from Parallels due this Summer!
To celebrate the start of their upcoming tour, Parallels are releasing a very special EP for their newest track ‘Salomé’ (Out Digitally March 29)
2. Salomé (Extended Mix)
3. Salomé (Vision of Paradise Remix)
