Los Angeles-born EDM wunderkind Skrillex continues his relentless aural assault, bringing his distinct amalgam of electronic mayhem to sweat-drenched audiences across the US this summer with the help of Porter Robinson and Zedd. The 23 year-old producer has spent nearly the entirety of 2011 on tour, living out of a suitcase while dismantling samples and programming the grinding synths and bass-drops of his upcoming full length on Big Beat/Atlantic in hotel rooms across the globe.
Riding a tidal wave of acclaim for his October release on Big Beat/Atlantic/Mau5trap, Scary Monsters & Nice Sprites EP, his most recent leg of performances took place at primarily sold-out venues holding nearly 5,000 people in some cases. Greeted upon arrival by an undulating army of hands in the air who continually prove willing to support the airborne DJ as he stage-dives repeatedly, Sonny Moore reciprocates by putting 100% of himself into every performance. It’s no wonder Billboard named him the #1 performer at this year’s Ultra Festival.
