The Alchemist, one half of the critically acclaimed “Shroom Bap” duo Gangrene and provider of beats to a who’s-who of top-tier rap practitioners including Rick Ross, Nas, Eminem, Mobb Deep and countless others, announces the second in his ongoing series of instrumental collections. Rapper’s Best Friend 2 is an inviting serving of some of the veteran’s most compelling musical canvases, constructed of grimy samples prime for lacing, and a contest hosted by record label/production company/idea shop Decon and Hip-Hop DX invites aspiring spitters to take advantage.
The Rapper’s Best Friend 2 contest offers MCs a chance to win an official release produced by The Alchemist. Participants need simply to download “Whole Lotta Thug” below, create a song with the beat and create a video of the performance, then reply to the contest Youtube with their own. Then, The Alchemist will personally select the winner, whose verse will be used on an official single to be released by Decon at a later date.
