Bonnaroo Music Festival Partners with Paper Diamond & Christian Rich With An Exclusive Premier of New Single XIX

The Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival offers more than just a 4-day experience. By distributing exclusive content and connecting artists to fans throughout the year, they continue to build a reputation as a trusted and spirited tastemaker. As the excitement builds around the Boulder based, genre defying Paper Diamond’s first ever play at Bonnaroo in June, Bonnaroo is excited to partner with Paper Diamond by offering this exclusive premier of the new single XIX as a free mp3 download. Paper Diamond comments, “I have such great memories of being at Bonnaroo as a fan years ago, and I’m truly looking forward to playing on stage alongside many of the artists I admire.”

XIX, the new single from the forthcoming EP Paragon, is a collaboration between Paper Diamond and the much celebrated LA production duo Christian Rich that features vocals from Scottish songstress Angela McCluskey of Telepopmusik fame. According to Paper Diamond “It’s a darker, moodier song which is a bit of a different direction than other pieces on Paragon”, but he’s thoroughly excited with the outcome and we trust that you will be too.

The collaborative production work on XIX yielded the velvety, expansive cut into something dark and nightlife-approved, laquered with glossy tones and pulsing rhythms. “XIX” script-flip oozes post- electronic minimalism, and highlights McCluskey’s aching vocals. Think dark rooms with flashing lights, narcotized conversations shrowded in a cloud of smoke, a dance party in slow motion.

Taiwo ‘Christian’ Hassan and Kehinde ‘Rich’ Hassan are on the same magical, symbiotic wavelength in the studio – the kind that can only be leveled by two talented producers of the twin variety. Dubbed Christian Rich, the brotherly duo has an impressive year behind them producing tracks like Earl Sweatshirt’s stuttering, lo-fi cut “Chum” plus collabs with Rye Rye and N.E.R.D.

Paragon will feature a range of production, instrumentation, and collaborators all weaved into Paper Diamond’s signature style. While “genre-defying” is an overused word, Paper Diamond is one of those rare artists who truly pulls it off, seamlessly weaving together genres as diverse as electro, trap, funk, dubstep, house, moombahton and hip-hop. During the past two months, while on tour with Excision, Paper Diamond has been dropping some of the new songs on stage, including another single “They Can’t Tell Me Nothing” which has caused crowds to get all railed up into a frenzy. According to Paper Diamond, “It’s one of the rowdiest parts of the show.” The single features original verses from Texas rapper J Fresh. Last week, Paper Diamond exclusively partnered with This Song Is Sick who offered up this first tasty sampler and boasted, “This has all the signs of being a festival anthem. The song starts with a peculiar stabbing synth that sets the mood of the track. It builds more energy and drop in some chopped up rapping adding the perfect touch. The drop hits and doesn’t let up, then bringing in the eerie synths once more.”

As the 2013 festival season is upon us, we can expect several more leaks, songs, and releases from Paper Diamond’s Paragon including the video for XIX which will be making its premier with Bonnaroo Festival this Thursday March 28th.

More about Paper Diamond:

Paper Diamond is making quite a name for himself, and it comes as no surprise to those familiar with his endlessly creative music that the name Paper Diamond itself carries. As he simply put, “Paper Diamond draws from an origami concept in that If you have a piece of paper, whatever your diamond shape is (simple or complex), that’s YOUR art. For me musically speaking, whether it’s simple or has a lot of layers, it’s my self-expression. Paper Diamond is art”.

Skill and versatility has landed Paper Diamond on stage with some of the biggest names in the game, as he has been personally selected as an opener by the iconic Bassnectar, newly-minted superstar Skrillex, EDM mainstay Pretty Lights, and now dubstep heavyweight Excision. The hip-hop community has also welcomed Paper Diamond with open arms – recent collaborator, Big Boi gave him a shout-out in Vibe Magazine, and his track “The 40 Thieves” had an exclusive premiere on Jay-Z’s Life + Times. In an interview with Life + Times, Paper Diamond said “I’ve been taught that music is a conversation. I personally use music to express my voice”.
