Chromeo to launch collection with Frank & Oak

DAVE 1 OF CHROMEO TO LAUNCH COLLECTION WITH FRANK & OAK

MENSWEAR BRAND AND E-TAILER FRANK AND OAK HAS ANNOUNCED A NEW COLLABORATION WITH DAVE 1 OF PROMINENT ELECTRO-FUNK DUO CHROMEO. TOGETHER, THEY’LL RELEASE A CAPSULE COLLECTION OF ELEGANT ESSENTIALS MAY 21.

“I had never designed a capsule collection before, and when Frank & Oak approached me, there were three reasons why I couldn’t refuse,” David Macklovitch (aka Dave 1) explained. “First, they’re a brand from my hometown of Montreal. Second, their background is traditional men’s tailoring. And lastly, they’re accessible and democratic.

“The inspiration here was the disheveled elegance of the South of France: the Stones recording Exile at Nellcôte, manly gents who aren’t afraid to pose next to a bouquet of flowers, the morning after a wedding…” Macklovitch said. “I like to think of it as a complete wardrobe: essential pieces that can all be effortlessly combined.”

The 18-piece collection-imbued with midnight blues, whites, and olives-blends Dave 1’s raw rock & roll aesthetic with Frank & Oak’s classic and minimal approach to design. The faded, low-cut tees ($30), minimal button-ups ($65), crisp white jeans ($75), and bold summer blazers (starting at $155), are all impeccably tailored with extra-skinny silhouettes (echoing Dave 1’s personal style).

“After meeting Dave and looking at his music and his personal aesthetic, I knew he shared Frank & Oak’s values and modern design philosophy,” said Frank & Oak co-founder and creative director Ethan Song. “This collaboration has worked so well because we’re aligned creatively, but we also both have something unique to bring to the table.”

To celebrate the collaboration, Frank & Oak will host an official launch party on May 15 in New York City. From April 29 – May 10, fans can enter to win a trip to meet Dave 1 at the NYC event at www.frankandoak.com/dave1/nyc.

The Frank & Oak x Dave 1 collection launches May 21, available exclusively through frankandoak.com

CHROMEO ANNOUNCES ‘WHEN THE NIGHT FALLS’ NEW TOUR DATES AND REMIX EP

MAYER HAWTHORNE TO SUPPORT, BREAKBOT ADDED ON SELECT DATES

‘WHEN THE NIGHT FALLS’ FEATURING SOLANGE KNOWLES GETS THE REMIX TREATMENT FROM HERCULES & LOVE AFFAIR, BREAKBOT, LIFELIKE AND A COVER VERSION FROM MAYER HAWTHORNE

Chromeo, the electrofunk duo credited for some of the decade’s most addicting pop songs and memorable live performances, is announcing a string of 34 new Fall tour dates, aptly titled the ‘Night Falls’ tour, in addition to their many upcoming festival appearances throughout the globe this year. This seven week journey across North America will be the biggest, most extensive tour in the band’s history. Joining the twosome on the road is soulful crooner Mayer Hawthorne, the Stones Throw alum now signed to Universal, and, on selected dates, Ed Banger’s very own funkateer Breakbot. Audiences should expect a spectacle as Chromeo’s performances are known for their trademark hot-legged keyboard stands, elaborate light show and sultry Robert Palmer-esque back-up singers. More recently fans have been treated to guest appearances by the likes of A-Trak and Ezra Koenig of Vampire Weekend to go along with the band’s seriously fancy footwork. Ticket sales begin July 6th for pre-sale and open July 8th for the general public. As all of Chromeo’s past tours have, this one is likely to sell out quickly.

Chromeo members Dave 1 and P-Thugg hit new heights with the release of the critically acclaimed Business Causal this past year, appearing on Late Night with David Letterman and Conan O’Brien. Their next official single, “When The Nights Falls” featuring Solange Knowles, is being released as a remix EP on July 26th through Big Beat/Atlantic Records. The single package features remixes by Hercules & Love Affair, Lifelike, Breakbot and a cover version by Mayer Hawthorne. Check out the Breakbot remix below for a preview of what to expect and scroll down for the full list of tour dates.

CHROMEO COLLABORATE WITH ELLY JACKSON OF LA ROUX FOR “HOT MESS” REDUX REMIXES BY DUCK SAUCE AND TIGA TO COME, TWO MONTH NORTH AMERICAN TOUR BEGINS IN JANUARY

CHROMEO COLLABORATE WITH ELLY JACKSON OF LA ROUX FOR “HOT MESS” REDUX REMIXES BY DUCK SAUCE AND TIGA TO COME, TWO MONTH NORTH AMERICAN TOUR BEGINS IN JANUARY

Chromeo have teamed up with La Roux’s Elly Jackson for a dynamic electro-funk duet, “Hot Mess.” The original version appears on Chromeo’s latest album, Business Casual (Big Beat/Atlantic), but Jackson took a shine to the Canadian duo and offered to lend vocals to the new and recently completed redux. “Hot Mess” marks a rare appearance for Jackson outside of her work as La Roux.

“Hot Mess” itself is an ice-cold break up number, not unlike classic ’80s duets by Prince & Sheena Easton, the Pet Shop Boys & Dusty Springfield, or The Human League. “Hot Mess” will be released as a single complete with remixes by Turbo Recordings founder Tiga and Duck Sauce who recently dominated international charts with the single, “Barbra Streisand.” Chromeo recently worked with Parisian design house Surface To Air to produce the stunning video for “Hot Mess” which premiered online earlier this week, receiving attention from mainstream sites and taste-making blogs alike. Carrying the momentum into the New Year, the duo of Dave 1 and P-Thugg will hit the road for a string of US dates this winter.

Chromeo – Hot Mess video

CHROMEO PREMIERES NEW VIDEO FOR SINGLE “HOT MESS”

CHROMEO’S MOST HILARIOUS, ELABORATE AND CINEMATIC VIDEO TO DATE DIRECTED BY JEREMIE ROZAN FOR PARISIAN DESIGN HOUSE SURFACE 2 AIR

Chromeo continues on their path toward pop-world adoration and domination with this addition to their long track record of compelling music videos. “Hot Mess”, the latest video for their Atlantic Records debut album, “Business Casual”, is a hilarious and lascivious narrative starring Dave and Pee as the last two male cops in an all female precinct that is highly aestheticized, beautifully shot, reminiscent of 70s French erotic cinema but with an American, Police Academy twist (synchronized swimming, policewoman dance routines, bodybuilders, aerial crane shots, dozens of breathtaking models). Most importantly it finally answers the question “what do Dave-1 and P-Thugg look like shirtless?” It’s unabashedly retro yet absurdly modern…it’s all that you’ve come to expect from a Chromeo video.

After countless sold out shows, critcial praise, an appearance on Late Night with David Letterman, and the announcement of a large tour early next year, Chromeo is showing absolutely no signs of slowing down.
