“For a man that needs no introduction, he continues to re-introduce himself back into the music scene with increased relevancy and humility. More of a living legend than just a producer, Lawrence Muggerud, better known by his stage name DJ Muggs, has conquered just about every genre he has set foot on” – The Music Ninja
The legendary Cypress Hill producer DJ Muggs is on fire – after releasing his critically acclaimed dubstep album this January 2013 on Ultra Music, he’s traversing the country with Modestep, the live electronic group known for bass-heavy bangers with vocal and rock elements resulting in full-spectrum sound. MiM0SA will also be joining up on the west coast dates to achieve massive sonic destruction. Named after his recent Ultra release, The Bass For Your Face Tour will be serving up enough bass-heavy soundscapes and dirt-nasty drops to satiate every single EDM fix across the nation.

Icelandic composer Ólafur Arnalds is offering an exclusive first listen of his forthcoming studio album, For Now I Am Winter, due out on April 2nd with Mercury Classics at the Hype Machine now. Composer Nico Muhly provides orchestral arrangements on the album, and Arnalds introduces vocals to his songs for the first time through Icelandic singer Arnór Dan. After a lauded set at last year’s Iceland Airwaves, including an intimate KEXP live broadcast performance, Ólafur returned to the US with laptop and string section in tow for several marquee live performances at this year’s SXSW. Deemed one of the Top 15 highlights of the festival by NPR, his song ‘Old Skin’ is featured on NPR’s All Songs Considered today. He will return to the US for an intimate one-off album release show in NYC on Thursday, April 18 at Le Poisson Rouge with Ensemble LPR and special guest appearances.
Arnalds continues to steadily build a reputation as one of the world’s most bright and able young composers. Purveying a neo-classical style with an array of influences which range from electronica to minimalism, Arnalds is an artist who draws from a variety of sources whilst maintaining his own unique sound. Since the release of his 2007 debut, Eulogy for Evolution, the 26-year-old, has put his name to a variety of projects and collaborations ranging from Emma Watson to Peter Broderick to Nils Frahm. Since 2009 he has scored films and TV shows including Another Happy Day, ITV’s upcoming drama Broadchurch and the Vanessa Hudgens-starring feature film Gimme Shelter, as well as having tracks featured on the soundtracks to Hollywood hits The Hunger Games and Looper. He’s also released two EPs each composed in a week; Found Songs in 2009 and Living Room Songs in 2011. Both of these collections featured works written and recorded in a day, the former innovatively released through Twitter and the latter released to his fans with accompanying videos through his social media channels and website.

Los Angeles duo Houses have announced that they’ll be joining Baths as main support on his upcoming national tour. Coming off a strong SXSW showing, an upcoming sold out San Francisco show and having already been announced as main support on Cold War Kids April dates complemented with a remix of their single”Miracle Mile” which premiered on FILTER today, Houses are on track to have a huge 2013. Starting May 23 in Portland and wrapping up June 29th in San Francisco, Houses will be spending much of the next four months on the road in support of their upcoming sophomore album A Quiet Darkness – out April 16th on Downtown Records.
The narrative of the album tells the story of a husband and wife separated in the midst of a nuclear disaster and their attempt to reunite with one another along the Highway 10 in California before their inevitable deaths, each song taking place in different abandoned houses along the way. Real life couple Dexter Tortoriello and Megan Messina made the trek themselves multiple times, to record sound and video at these abandoned houses that are featured on the album. The album’s celestial ambiance and wanderlust concepts are conveyed throughout the recording with techniques employed by Dexter Tortoriello’s production and the stark contrast between the minimal electronic pulses, found sounds and meandering and melancholy harmonies. The ethereal sound on which Houses was built is woven through A Quiet Darkness, the 2013 release shows a deep and pensive side to a band who clearly encompass a darker side of bliss; a bold new bravado that will resonate with anyone who has ever experienced love and loss.

JUSTICE ANNOUNCE LIVE ALBUM ACCESS ALL ARENAS COMING THIS MAY
HEAR LIVE VERSION OF “On’N’On” HERE:
French electronic music titans Justice have announced a new live album, Access All Arenas, set for release via Ed Banger / Because Music / Vice / Elektra on May 7th. The 14-track album is a recording of their show in the Nîmes arenas last July, offering a taste of the wild effervescence that makes this duo one of the most exciting electronic live bands of the decade. Album art and tracklisting below.
In 2012 the Audio, Video, Disco tour sold-out in a matter of days, comprising 105 shows that spanned from Australia to New York, Europe and South America, and resulted in the strongest performances of their career. The duo’s immense live presence stems from their live reworkings of album tracks, as well as powerful stage and lighting design, as detailed in a live documentary that made it’s debut on Jay-Z’s Life + Times today (link below).
Juno-nominated rapper DL Incognito returns with his fifth album, Someday is Less Than a Second Away, out April 16, 2013 via URBNET/Fontana North.
Check out “Super,” the first single from Someday is Less Than a Second Away, produced by Techtwelve.
Since his 2002 debut, A Sample and a Drum Machine, Toronto’s DL Incognito has toured and recorded non-stop, earning his place as one of Canada’s elite hip-hop artists.
“I look at my music in the same way Porsche looks at automobile design,” DL says. “I keep trying to improve on the things that have allowed me to build a strong grassroots fanbase. I think it’s just evolution over revolution—the little changes that I hope will perfect my original ideas.
“My goal is always to have fun making intelligent music,” he continues. “I base a lot of tracks on my life or close experiences, but I want people to have a good time when they’re listening. On Someday is Less Than a Second Away, I hope listeners can hear some of the hunger they heard on my earlier LPs, with a more mature and focused sound.”
