Bassnectar announces fall North American tour

One of music’s most prominent and longest standing bass practitioners, Bassnectar, is gearing up for a busy fall in 2012 with a coast to coast tour that hits markets not covered on his VAVA VOOM Spring tour. His latest album of the same name peaked at #1 in the iTunes electronic chart (#9 overall) and showcases some of the most diverse influences in the EDM world, including hip hop collaborations with Lupe Fiasco and Amp Live, ethereal vocals from Mimi Page and a tribute to California Skate-punk legends Pennywise. Bassnectar’s highly original production style is spurred from a past of far reaching musical inspirations. His music is meticulously produced, consciously relevant and brazenly defies genre categorization.

The VAVA VOOM Spring tour brought over 80,000 Bass Heads together within the span of three weeks. In 2011 Bassnectar sold nearly 200,000 hard tickets ($1 of each goes to charity), with an astounding 72 dates sold out. Whether performing at auditoriums, coliseums, civic centers or a major festival, Bassnectar produces events with the same passion and creativity as when he is making music. Each tour ups the ante with a massive roadshow that packs its own custom sound system and light rig to compliment his expansive sets. Additionally, Bass Center VII comes to St Louis on October 6th with Zeds Dead. The tour kicks off September 27th in Greensboro, NC at the Greensboro Coliseum.

Showtek to embark on 15 city Identity Tour

The Dutch brothers Wouter and Sjoerd Janssen, collectively known as the bombastic super-group Showtek, have released details on their most ambitious tour to date.

As one of the headliners of the Identity Festival, the boys will weave their way throughout the USA and Canada on a proper rock star trapping, their own tour bus.

“We’re really excited to hit this tour on the bus” said Wouter “It makes seeing the country more of a possibility and we may be able to actually recover from the last nights’ show by sleeping on the coach instead of jumping immediately on another airplane! AZEALIA BANKS IS BRINGING MERMAID BALL 2012 TO LOS ANGELES WITH SPECIAL GUESTS // SET FOR HENRY FONDA THEATRE ON SATURDAY, JULY 14TH // FANTASEA MIXTAPE RELEASE MOVED TO JULY 11TH

“Banks entered her ball as any semi-aquatic celebutante would: flanked on either side by her girls, and wearing nothing but seashells, jewels, some well-placed pasties and her milky, mischievous smile. Banks’ penchant for foul-mouthed fun and sticky hooks are unstoppable: during her rising B-side ‘Liquorice,’ fans eagerly belted the harmonious bridge without her help.” -ROLLING STONE, on the NYC Mermaid Ball

Justice release New Lands EP, new Justice tour dates

HEAR THE FALCON REMIX

Justice, the world acclaimed electronic duo of Xavier de Rosnay & Gaspard Augé, today released a new five-song EP “New Lands”. The EP’s title track is culled from 2011’s prog-dance masterwork Audio, Video, Disco and features remixes of the song by A-Trak, Sebastian, and Falcon, as well as a live version captured on the band’s ever-extending world tour, to which a new US leg has just been added on top of previously announced dates at Red Rocks, Lollapalooza, Outside Lands, among several others (full dates below). The EP will be accompanied by a stunningly cinematic video directed by Canada that will be unveiled in the coming weeks.

The band’s manager and Ed Banger Records head honcho Busy P offered these thoughts on the EP: JUSTICE “NEW LANDS” EP includes some very familiar names. My oldest friend DJ FALCON was surfing away, it wasn’t easy to get him out of the water and go back in the studio. He did it for us, his Roulé touch, like the perfect soundtrack for a little ride on the Pacific Coast Highway.A-TRAK is for me the North American side of Ed Banger records, here again, it was natural to ask him to remix his Justice friends.SEBASTIAN went downtempo, hipnotic, if you’re fed with “Ni**as in Paris” (you heard it 11 times in a row…) you might like this joint! The Live version offers you a little taste of how JUSTICE can sound in a big room with people bleeding, sweating and crying. This is “NEW LANDS” Justice new single extract from “AUDIO, VIDEO, DISCO”

Shit Robot Shares Tracks From The Green Machine, Out Now via DFA Records

Shit Robot Shares Tracks From The Green Machine, Out Now via DFA Records

Stream Both Tracks via DFA’s Soundcloud

Shit Robot returns with his first new material since the release of his debut long-player, From The Cradle To The Rave, releasing the “Teenage Bass” single with “Space Race,” the first cuts from his new project, The Green Machine. After spending much of 2010 and 2011 touring the globe with his live show – including a string of dates opening/performing with LCD Soundsystem during their final shows in NYC – the rebooted Robot is back with The Green Machine.

The first result of his Stuttgart/New York studio adventures is a double-header of dancefloor jams, “Teenage Bass” b/w “Space Race,” which is now available on vinyl and digitally on DFA Records. It’s the first in a series of releases called The Green Machine, which will culminate in an album early next year.

Lead cut “Teenage Bass” rides a rude EBM bassline and rave alert sirens, before expanding further with key changing chords and a defining arpeggiator. The hypnotic “Space Race” is a distant relative of 2007’s “Chasm” – a meandering, melodic, star-gazing Robo-techno workout.

Speaking about the new release, Shit Robot said: “After the album I just wanted to go back to my roots and make some dance 12”s, music for people to get drunk and jump around to.” In addition, today is the launch of a special Shit Robot contest via DFA Records – email a copy of your receipt for either the vinyl or digital version of the single to iwantyou@dfarecords.com for a chance to win a special Shit Robot prize pack.

To mark the new release, Shit Robot will be announcing a series of live The Shit Robot Show/DJ dates across the world, details on those coming soon. In addition, a new range of Shit Robot merchandise is now available from the DFA webstore. You can grab Robot coffee mugs, pins, stamped ‘Wrong Galaxy’ white labels and a rather nifty From The Cradle To The Rave value pack, which includes a vinyl, CD and pin for $15. You can find all that good stuff here.
