KONRAD BLACK READIES TO BLACK OUT AMERICA Unleashes Six Date US Bi-Coastal Tour, Including Black Valentine Miami Party Takes The Reigns for Prestigious WATERGATE03 Mix Series

KONRAD BLACK READIES TO BLACK OUT AMERICA Unleashes Six Date US Bi-Coastal Tour, Including
Black Valentine Miami Party Takes The Reigns for Prestigious WATERGATE03 Mix Series

Wagon Repair co-founder Konrad Black has announced a six date US tour kicking off February 12, 2009. The tour coincides with him taking the reigns of the esteemed Watergate mix series, with WATERGATE03 – KONRAD BLACK set to be released March 2009.

It’s been a seminal twelve months for Konrad Black in North America, who over the last five years has bubbled to the surface as one of North America’s most bleeding edge dance music talents. His Wagon Repair label has emerged as a global touch point for the very best new and innovative techno music and holds down a quarterly residency at Watergate. While Black’s busy European club schedule, which includes a monthly residency at the famed Panorama Bar, coupled with coveted appearances at NYC’s Minitek and DEMF in 2008 and headlining slots at Avalon in LA, has paved the way for his debut US tour in 2009.

The Vancouver born Black, who relocated to Berlin in 2006, has been turning heads in Europe for several years. His 2005 debut releases on his own highly influential Wagon Repair label, ‘Medusa Smile’ and ‘Draconia’, quickly found themselves in the crates of the world’s top DJs and tastemakers. Ricardo Villalobos, Richie Hawtin, Steve Bug, Loco Dice and Tiga all enthused over his atmospheric twisted bass style, derived from his origins in the drum & bass worlds of Vancouver and London. His signature dark shadowy tones resonated with club goers around the world, to the point where ‘Medusa Smile’ was included upon Sven Vath’s highly influential ‘Sound of the Sixth Season’ mix CD.

Since then Black has been a highly sought after re-mixer and producer with his work regularly appearing on the world’s top dance music labels including Get Physical, Crosstown Rebels, M_NUS, Fabric (London), Poker Flat Recordings, Spectral and Cocoon among others.

2008 saw Black tapped to headline two of Beatport’s five year anniversary parties, represent M_NUS at their world renowned CONTAKT party in London and produce prestigious remixes of Tiga’s ‘Sunglasses at Night’ and Marc Romboy’s ‘Side Effects’.

An analog producer, Black loves his synths and keyboards, and after having to beg, borrow and steal equipment to start his musical career, Black’s studio now boasts a formidable arsenal of hardware on which he compiles his bass driven musical assaults.

Tour dates and venues:

February 12th Muse Washington DC
February 13th Beatport room at BETA Denver
February 14th Circa Miami FL – Black Valentine Party
February 26th Bazaar Atlanta, GA
February 27th Rise, Boston, MA
February 28th Save the Cannibals, NY, NY

Situated by the river Spree, known for its first-rate lineups of international talent and its famous wall-to-wall LED dancefloor installation, the Watergate Club in Berlin has quickly become one of the world’s leading dance music clubs. In July 2008 the club celebrated five years of pushing electronic music boundaries with its first ever mix CD, WATERGATE 01 – ONUR ÖZER, which was followed by WATERGATE 02 – SASCHA FUNKE.

The Watergate mix CD series delivers the finest DJ mixes by some of the club’s most exiting residents and guests. With the focus being put not only on the music, but also on the packaging and design, this series has already become a truly sought-after collector’s item.

Artist bio – Konrad Black:

Konrad Black has been involved in DJing, producing and performing music for the past ten years. After his first drum and bass release on Formation Records in the UK, influences such as Maurizio and Klang inspired an interest in more minimal sounds, and in 1998, a meeting with Swayzak in Vancouver led to ‘Greycale’ for Slow Building in 1999.

After relocating to London and working with Ed Rush and Optical’s prestigious Drum & Bass label Virus Recordings, Black continued to pursue his interest in techno, recording the 2002 track ‘White Cigarettes’ for Swayzak’s 240 Volts Compilation. Concurrently Konrad worked as Headgear with March 21st of Circlesquare. This project culminated in a collaboration with Swayzak for the track ‘In the Car Crash’ on the seminal album ‘Dirty Dancing’, released in 2002.

In 2004 Black returned to Vancouver and formed Wagon Repair Recordings with Mathew Jonson, Graham Boothby and Jesse Fisk. In a very short space of time the label has become one of the most respected and consistent in the world. A keen interest in visual art, Black has designed and produced all the art-work for his Wagon Repair releases.

Of Wagon Repair Black says: “The founding mandate of the label was, and still is, to put out whatever moves us, not to be defined by style or sales figures. It serves as a creative outlet for all of us…musically and aesthetically.”

The Golden Filter – Tour with Presets + Music.

Some say there’s a disco revival in the air, about to sweep aside the current “stop n’ start” sounds of the indie electro scene and shower the nightlife, once again with the shimmering of a disco ball and the sexy synths and driving beats of a not so forgotten genre.

Then again, some say it never left and thanks to a respectable collective of artists and tastemakers in New York City, they are leading the sounds of Disco (or nu Disco?) back to its rightful home; both on the dancefloor and in your playlists… The Golden Filter are very much part of this movement and you’ll certainly be hearing a lot more of these guys throughout 2009 and beyond. Mysticism, romance and sex, accompanied with the sounds of seductive analogue synths; all crucial elements that make The Golden Filter what they are and what we love so very much about them. With influences such as Soft Cell and The Human League, Moroder and Kraftwerk, this is a band bringing back adventure, escapism and imagination back to pop music in the USA.

The Golden Filter met within a buzzing New York art collective where they were surrounded by artists, vintage clothes dealers, musicians and their first love, photography. Out of this creative whirlwind The Golden Filter emerged, and ‘Solid Gold’ is their opening statement of intent. The Golden Filter are the leading lights in the re-emergence of disco, and the throwback to late 70s New York hedonism.

With it’s glowing production and haunting vocal, ‘Solid Gold’ will take you to another dimension. Powered by an incredible, propulsive disco bassline which drives the track forward, ‘Solid Gold’ has already gained incredible word of mouth support online, with the likes of Popjustice, BigStereo and Discodust all declaring one of the most exciting records to emerge for months. Add to this the support of Cut Copy, A Trak and more, and you have one of the hottest new bands around.

Solid Gold is now set to get its debut UK single release on Dummy Records.

After completing a string of debut live shows across the UK with Hercules And Love Affair and Late Of The Pier, The Golden Filter have also been working hard remixing a slew of high profile artists, most recently Peter, Bjorn and Johns ‘Lay It Down’ which was premiered on Pitchfork this week. Stay tuned for more upcoming and exciting remixes to come

Come see The Golden Filter when they embark on a North American Tour this Spring with The Presets or if you cant wait that long, their upcoming NYC show at Le Poisson Rouge, 30th January, should not be missed!

Cash Cash new album Take It To The Floor in stores today

IN STORES TODAY, January 20th, is the new album from Universal Republic artist Cash Cash entitled Take It To The Floor.

Cash Cash EPK

Eclectic New Jersey Techno-Funksters Convert Rousing Single “Party In Your Bedroom” Into Signature Breakout Hit

The breakthrough, boisterous techno-pop of Universal Republic newcomers Cash Cash will be bounding into stores bright and early in 2009, with their Universal Republic debut album, Take It To The Floor, to be made available to fans nationwide on January 20. The charismatic band is currently riding the wave of their insatiable hit “Party In Your Bedroom,” which has exploded on radio and via youtube, thanks to the turbo-charged chemistry supplied by brothers Jean Paul Makhlouf (vocals, guitar) and Alex Makhlouf (keyboards, programming), and the band’s riveting rhythm section: Sam Frisch (bass, vocals) and Anthony Villacari (drums, percussion).

Hailing from Roseland, New Jersey, Cash Cash has seeded their close-knit camaraderie with an interchangeable musical DNA that reaches all the way back to Jean Paul’s and Sam’s third grade roots. Known for fusing 70s pumped-up funk vapors into infectious 80s-styled pop, the group’s harmony-anchored hooks sealed their appeal, with the band inking a deal with Universal Republic Records in early 2008.

Ratcheting up gleeful gems such as “Breakout,” and “Two Days Old,” Cash Cash relies on a relentless connectivity that powers both their live shows and sizzling studio efforts that has seen them win over online fans and club-goers across the U.S. Currently wrapping up a tour with dance-pop hypsters Metro Station and Tyga, the group will be be heading back to their native New Jersey on December 20 to perform in South Hackensack, NJ. Scheduled to continue their live trek, the band will launch the release of their debut heading out on tour with the Millionaires. The tour kicks off on January 21st in Bakersfield, CA and runs through February 19th wrapping up in San Diego, CA.

It was their constant barnstorming of NJ and NYC clubs, like Pete Wentz’ AK-47 New York City nightspot, that led to heightened record company interest in the versatile group in ’07 and early ’08. Their effortless singing style, coupled with a playfully off-kilter beat-sensibility became a notable trademark of Cash Cash, rallying fans and critics to their musical cause everywhere they played. The band is rewarding their fiercely loyal online base with a ‘Party In Your Bedroom’ video contest, prompting fans to send in their own version of the world’s best ‘Dance Party In Your Bedroom,’ video for a chance to win a $500 Gift card from popular retail outlet Bed, Bath and Beyond – and a subsequent makeover in Cash Cash style of the lucky winner’s very own bedroom. For complete details about the contest, which ends December 8, log on to Cash Cash’s popular myspace site.

“The Presets jump back on the dancefloor and aim for the cosmos with their latest. “Yippyo-yay’ and “My People” will light up the night” – XLR8R

“Presets dont just make electronic dance music… They throw a lot of heavy musical content into the stew, seemingly at times to convey that they’re capable of being “serious” musicians- not that that kills the joy…” – LA WEEKLY

“(The Presets) throw down fists full of bouncing beats… Shiny as silver ink, tracks such as ‘Kicking and Screaming’ and ‘My People’ celebrate diversity and dancing.” – Chicago Free Press

“I’ve seen plenty of concerts in my 36 years on earth – and my 21 years as a music writer – so please forgive my sincere hyperbole here: Last night I may very well have experienced the hottest show of my life.” – Just Out

“The Presets revel in the darker, more cosmic realm of dance music while still having fun and involuntarily getting people in the mood to move. There’s also punk and new wave elements, but just dont call them “indietronica”. – Rolling Stone

“Apocalypse WOW! – a sold-out sea of fist-pumping, the music off of the Presets’ most recent album Apocalypso inspiring dance moves from the most complacent of hipsters.” – Blackbook

“Compelling evidence that their famed live act translates to the recorded medium. The Presets are a beauty.” – MIX MAG

“An electrifying set… The crowd’s frivolous dancing and singalong was no shock in this case: absurdly catchy tracks extracted from the duo’s latest album Apocalypso intensified as well as delighted.” – Big Shot

“…fist pumping, bass throbbing set that coerced the crowd into gleeful, pseudo-violent dancing.” –
The Eagle.

“Apocalypso could thrust The Presets to mainstream success” – The Edge

“Imagine Depeche Mode circa Violator with a twist of Pet Shop Boys’ pop purity” – Anthem

“The Presets lead the wave of Aussie dance music” – AM New York

“Having created major inroads in their homeland, The Presets are poised to gain similar recognition Stateside and beyond…” AOL Music

“The best sound set-up we’ve ever experienced!” – DC-ist.

“the Presets had a strong outing, with a minimalist drums-and-synth setup providing a big return on party noir.” LA Times.

“Their set wonderfully straddles the line between a traditional rock show and DJ set… the entire venue dashed and jumped around like, well, ravers in a friendly mosh pit.” URB

P.O.S Offers Free Download Of Goodbye – First Single Off NEVER BETTER, Due Out February 3rd On Rhymesayers! February Headline Tour Announced!

P.O.S Offers Free Download Of “Goodbye” – First Single Off NEVER BETTER, Due Out February 3rd On Rhymesayers! February Headline Tour Announced!

P.O.S. returns with Never Better, February 3rd on Rhymesayers. It’s the follow-up to 2006’s critically acclaimed Audition. The first single off the record “Goodbye” is available as a free download from Rhymesayers here and also available at iTunes.

Most of P.O.S’ new album was written in a moving car. On it, he raps at full-clip to ride rolling drums and revving distortion. There’s an urgency that he keeps in careful check, and then unleashes for spring-loaded verses that represent his best work. P.O.S built his reputation as an innovator, with an unlikely punk rock past and expressive, honest content. He re-earns the accolades with every release. His records capture his charisma-they’re driving and sincere, the dark moments counterbalanced by some giggling banter with the engineer. On Never Better, the new disc, he conjures get-away cars, racing chariots, the pursuit of sirens, and the occasional rueful nighttime drive.

P.O.S himself made more than half of the beats on Never Better, and the production bears his unmistakable signature. The album enters a room like bombshell with a black eye-badass, noisy, impossible to ignore. Feedback and relentless drum rolls are only occasionally tempered by sung choruses and clean, chiming guitar lines. Some critics will be eager to categorize the album as a hybrid-some kind of crossover project. But it’s probably not. P.O.S is a rapper with range, he’s a real musician and an unstoppable performer. For him, genres are as they ever were: permeable.

The packaging for P.O.S’s new album Never Better is a one of a kind four panel transparent plastic Digipak that holds 16 solid and 6 Transparent inserts. The solid inserts have artwork on the front and lyrics/credits on the back. The Transparent inserts have artwork that when placed over the various solid cards, enhance and change the look of the art underneath, hundreds of combinations are possible. Look for P.O.S to embark on a headlining tour for the month of February and he will stay on the road through the summer, where he’s confirmed for the entire Vans Warped Tour.

Gorilla Zoe Lil Wayne Press Releases Tour Dates

Block Entertainment/Bad Boy South recording artist Gorilla Zoe has announced plans to join Lil’ Wayne on his hugely anticipated “I Am Music” arena tour. The dates – which feature a multi-artist bill that also includes Gym Class Heroes, T-Pain, Keyshia Cole, and Keri Hilson – kicked off this Sunday, December 14th at Miami’s American Airlines Arena and is now travelling all over North America through mid-January (see attached itinerary). Among the tour’s certain highlights will be a New Year’s Eve extravaganza at the Philips Arena in Zoe’s hometown of Atlanta.

Zoe is currently exploding at radio with his new single, “Lost.” The track – which will be featured on the ATL-based rapper’s upcoming sophomore album, “DON’T FEED DA ANIMALS” – is now climbing the top 25 at Urban outlets nationwide after impacting as the #1 Most Added track at both Urban and Rhythmic.

In addition, the single’s companion video clip has been confirmed for “Heavy” rotation on BET’s daily hip hop show, The Deal. The video is slated to premiere on The Deal on Tuesday, December 16th (check local listings).

“DON’T FEED DA ANIMALS” is without question one of 2009’s most hotly awaited new hip-hop releases. The album – which follows last year’s smash debut, “WELCOME TO THE ZOO” – arrives in stores and online on March 17th.

Zoe firmly established himself as a truly original hip-hop voice via 2007’s top 10 rap smash, “Hood Figga,” not to mention his featured role on Block Entertainment/Bad Boy South labelmate Yung Joc’s hits, “Coffee Shop” and “Bottle Poppin’.” As if that weren’t enough, he joined forces with superstar rap combo Boyz N Da Hood for their 2007 release, “BACK UP N DA CHEVY.”

Since then, Zoe has lent his distinctive style to a variety of hip-hop hits, including tracks by Cheri Dennis, Shawty Lo, and Rick Ross.

He has also appeared on a variety of mixtapes, including the just-released “FEEDING TIME,” available for free download at
