Triumphantly re-launching his career on his own terms after a taxing detour, Bobby Valentino is prepping his EMI Records debut Rebirth via his own Blu Kolla Dreams imprint.

The gifted vocalist is familiar with new beginnings. Bobby first charted as a member of Mista, the teenage group responsible for the innovative single “Blackberry Molasses.” Intent on forging a solo career, he reinvented himself as Bobby Valentino and smashed the scene with 2005 chart-topper “Slow Down.” His self-titled solo debut, released later that year on fellow Atlantan Ludacris’s Disturbing Tha Peace/Def Jam label, reached number three on the Billboard Top 200 albums chart.

As 2007 drew to a close, Bobby found himself among the casualties of corporate upheaval and economy-caused cutbacks. His sophomore disc, Special Occasion, was scarcely supported by his soon-to-be-former label. It was clearly time to re-envision his career, looking toward his strong faith in God to illuminate his life’s path. The introspection and soul-searching resulted in Rebirth, his most intriguing and personal album to date. Alongside gifted producers L.O.S, Raphael Saadiq and long-time collaborators Tim & Bob, the talented songwriter offers a mature effort that will both please loyal fans and win over fickle critics.

Rebirth revolves around relationships. The infectious lead single “BEEP,” among the disc’s most visceral tunes, details the joys of adventurous sex. Cleverly crafted by up-and-coming Mississippi native Big Fruit, the melody begins as ballad and morphs into an up-tempo sweat-inducer. Bobby notes, “The feedback from the record was so strong. When I played it for people and I sent it to the clubs everybody reacted to it quickly. My first single, I always want it to be for the people.” The single announces: “I’m back, I got a new situation – it’s one of those kinds of records that’s gonna make a statement.”

Bobby was especially honored to work with Grammy Award-winner Saadiq, who produced “Wish List” for the project. Bobby beams: “He is one of the coolest, most down to earth people in the world. I didn’t know what to expect but he was a fan of mine. He knew my music and that really had me in awe.” The two ambitiously cover Saadiq’s 1995 gem “Just Me and You.” Valentino explains, “I rewrote the verses while he brought in live horns and played guitar.” Melodically, Bobby’s version blends the majesty of the original with his signature vocals.

Tim & Bob are Bobby’s go-to guys from the Mista era, they helmed Bobby’s “Slow Down”. On working with the duo: “I release all of my stress and my energy into music with Tim & Bob. I like to work with producers that really know how to play instruments and aren’t all about the drum machines because with R&B it’s all about the music.” The duo crafted “3 Is the New 2” a Jodeci-tinged joint playing on the phrase “30 is the new 20.” Another mid-tempo ballad in this vein is “Butterfly Tattoo,” which evokes ‘80s Prince, complete with synthesized accents and an electric guitar solo.

Not everything can be summed up as sheer lust however; heed the mature “Hands on Me,” a desperate yen to remain faithful despite a very tempting dalliance. Or the sophisticated ballad “Give Me Your Heart,” on which Bobby takes listeners to church with divine chords and an evangelical falsetto. “It’s kind of like me turning in my player card,” he says. “It’s for the grown folks.” And while he’s not quite ready to live by the song now, he muses with a half-smile: “Down the road I don’t even have to propose. I can just play that song.”

Rebirth also marks Valentino’s production debut with the track “Make Me Say.” Inspired by the hook he wrote and sings on Lil’ Wayne’s flirtatious hit “Mrs. Officer,” Bobby explains, “It’s about a girl that I really like so much that I can bring her around my family, bring her around my friends. She just makes me say ‘Woo!’”

Bobby V is expanding his philanthropic efforts The Bobby Valentino Foundation, which focuses on the value of higher education. The Clark Atlanta graduate shares, “Going to college was one of my best experiences and I just want to provide that opportunity [for others] and stress the importance of being educated.”

His highest hurdles behind him, Bobby Valentino is poised to reclaim his peerless place in the music world. His general life philosophy is reflected in the principles he holds for Blu Kolla Dreams: “The majority of my fans and audience are blue collar people that work every day with a dream. And this is my dream. I’ve been in this industry a long time. I just continue to believe in myself.” Considering his inevitably successful return, Bobby Valentino is far from alone in his dream.

The GS Boyz Biography

Millions of hits on YouTube. A song/dance sensation born on the blacktop and in the basement, now reverberating through clubs and pounding out of passing cars. The next wave of grass-roots ground shakers is here-meet The GS Boyz. These Boyz definitely stand on their own feet; in fact Soulja Boy invited the talented Texas two-steppers to participate on his national tour.

You already know their ubiquitous “Stanky Legg,” which has everyone from street-hardened soldiers to awkward high school teachers contorting themselves to the irrepressible beat. The song entered Billboard’s Hip-Hop and R&B Airplay chart at #62 entirely independently.

This charismatic quintet has turned other prominent heads; Hotlanta heatmaker Yung Joc signed them to his imprint through Battery/Jive Records, Swagg Team Entertainment.

Says Joc: “I’m pleased to announce this business venture between The GS Boyz, Swagg Team, and Battery/Jive Records. Please be advised that this act is not a one-hit wonder. The hits to come will leave other labels wondering why they didn’t sign The GS Boyz first.”

The GS Boyz, originally a duo comprising “Prince Charming” aka Mathew Griffith and Keithian “Slizz” Cherry, assembled in 2005 in Arlington’s Bowie High School. “Marc D” aka Maus Dinkins, another classmate, would soon join. Looking to combat the escalating gang-related violence they witnessed daily, the trio focused on making positive, feel-good music that’d move people to dance, not fight. Marc D produced their first official offering, “Hit the G-Spot.” The joint caught the attention of crooner Decory “DK” Kenner, then a part of an R&B ensemble called New Faze. He’d join the group to collaborate on their debut street single, “Twisted,” which invaded local teen clubs and started bubbling on MySpace. That quickly, The GS Boyz appeared on everyone’s radar as the next big thing from the Dallas-Fort Worth region. Following records “He Don’t Deserve You” and “First Time” did nothing to slow their snowballing momentum.

Come 2007, the quartet added one more member, a local MC named “Soufside” aka Telson Flowers. Proving to be the last piece of the puzzle, Soufside helped compose what has since become their global phenomenon, “Stanky Legg.” The song and its accompanying dance caught the ear of high-profile Louisiana DJ Bay Bay, known best for breaking Hurricane Chris and his smash single “A Bay Bay.” He helped push The GS Boyz to where they are now: busy touring with headline acts Soulja Boy, Lil’ Flip, Bun B, Mike Jones, and others. The song and dance have spread to six continents, and the groundswell won’t stop there. Expect their debut album, through Battery Records, sometime in 2009.

After record breaking back-to-back #1 album debuts by Danity Kane and Day26, P. Diddy decided it was time to put the hardest working bands in show business on a national tour. In addition, P. Diddy revealed that MTV cameras will document the tour for the new season of the hit reality series “Making the Band” airing late summer. The official tour dates for the “P. Diddy and MTV Presents Making The Band 4 – The Tour” were announced today on TRL. The cross-country, multi-artist bill will feature the hit reality series’ two #1-selling superstar groups, Danity Kane and Day26, as well as fellow MTB4 star, Donnie Klang. Joining the tour as special guest will be Bad Boy recording artist Cheri Dennis.

“P. Diddy and MTV Presents Making The Band 4 – The Tour” will take off on May 24th at Orlando, Florida’s Bob Carr Performing Arts Centre, then travel the country through mid-June, hitting such major markets as Miami, New York, Detroit, Chicago, and Las Vegas (see attached itinerary). The tour will culminate on June 9th and 10th with an eagerly awaited two-night-stand at Los Angeles’ historic Wiltern Theatre.

Pre-sale tickets for “P. Diddy and MTV Presents Making The Band 4 – The Tour” will be available on Thursday, April 17th via the official Bad Boy Records website, All remaining tickets will then go on sale to the general public on Saturday, April 19th.

P. Diddy officially announced the tour to the world on Tuesday, April 15th with an appearance on MTV’s TRL. Both Danity Kane and Day26 – who last month scored back-to-back #1 debuts on the SoundScan/Billboard 200 album chart – performed live on the broadcast, which also featured a visit from Donnie Klang. TRL airs weekdays on MTV at 3:30 pm ET/PT (check local listings).

“WELCOME TO THE DOLLHOUSE,” the RIAA gold-certified new album from Bad Boy recording group Danity Kane, made an explosive arrival atop the SoundScan/Billboard 200 album chart upon its March release. The album’s success marked the group’s second consecutive #1 chart entry – following their 2006 RIAA platinum-certified, self-titled debut – and gives them the distinction of being the first female group in Billboard chart history to have both their debut and sophomore albums enter the main album chart at #1.

“Damaged,” the album’s first hit single, is the week’s “Most Added” track at CHR/Top 40 radio outlets nationwide, while also logging top 30 airplay at Rhythmic. Bad Boy Records topped the SoundScan/Billboard 200 album chart for a second consecutive week as Day26’s self-titled debut album followed Danity Kane’s “WELCOME TO THE DOLLHOUSE” into the #1 spot in its first week in release. With total sales exceeding 190,000, “DAY26” – which features the current hit, “Got Me Going” and the upcoming single, “Since You Been Gone” – officially logged the biggest-selling debut album from a male R&B group in the 17-year history of SoundScan.

“Got Me Going” is continuing Bad Boy’s remarkable streak of hit singles. The Mario Winans-produced track has bulleted its way into the Top 25 at Urban radio outlets nationwide, while also drawing serious airplay at Rhythmic, Top 40, and Urban AC.
