2 CHAINZ CONTINUES HOT STREAK WITH SCENE-STEALING VERSE ON KANYE WEST/G.O.O.D. MUSIC’S “MERCY” AND SUPPORTING SLOT ON DRAKE’S UPCOMING ‘CLUB PARADISE’ NATIONAL TOUR

Last month, in one of the scores of features written about him in the past year, XXL Magazine anointed 2 CHAINZ as “arguably the hottest MC out right now without a proper solo album under his Gucci belt.”

Open up the belt a few notches: all that is about to change.

With today’s arrival of the official single “No Lie” feat. Drake, 2 Chainz’s T.R.U. (The Real University) and Def Jam Recordings announce the August 14th release date of the debut album BASED ON A T.R.U. STORY. “No Lie” feat. Drake will be available for sale through all digital carriers and services on May 8th.

One of the most anticipated debut albums in years, BASED ON A T.R.U. STORY is set to arrive as the crest of the 2 Chainz wave crashes into shore. After a series of explosive mixtapes made 2 Chainz the most sought-after MC in the game – an onslaught of media attention ensued, including the cover of The Source and a glowing piece in The New York Times – he has recently linked up with the likes of heavies Kanye West and Drake for collaborations of the next order.

In March Kanye West flew into Austin, TX to join Chainz in a surprise performance at one of his triumphant SXSW gigs. Just weeks ago, Chainz debuted his “Riot” video on BET’s 106 & Park with a silently supportive Kanye. The two also promoted the G.O.O.D. Music heatrock “Mercy,” which had just arrived at radio with appropriately bombastic results. The buzz on 2 Chainz scene-stealing verse has been deafening.

2 Chainz and Drake have formed nothing short of an alliance. Drake delivers a monster hook on the club-banger “No Lie.” Not one to let a favor go unreturned, Chainz has agreed to join Drake’s ‘Club Paradise’ tour, which kicks off in Irvine, CA on May 8th.

In “tru” 2 Chainz fashion, the Atlanta-native has gone from a sold-out NYC debut concert in February to a major national tour in just months. “2Chainz is a veteran who chooses being catchy over being cool,” raved the New York Times the morning after his now-legendary SOB’s debut. “He’s an inadvertent humorist, and awe and wonderment often sneak into his verses, as if he’s still surprised by every blessing his new success affords him.”

Having mined digital downloads in the millions for T.R.U. REALigion, his latest indie mixtape sensation (released November 2011), 2Chainz is still winning new fans every hour. His hit tracks – signatures that include “Riot” and the Drumma Boy-produced smash single “Spend It,” have helped establish a new sphere of influence for the lanky, outspoken rapper.

2Chainz is a product of the competitive Atlanta scene that spawned his first group, the duo Playaz Circle (in which he was known as Tity Boi). They made their mark back in ’07 with the rap-R&B-pop crossover hit “Duffle Bag Boy” featuring Lil’ Wayne on the hook, on the DTP (Disturbing Tha Peace)/Def Jam label.

Soon thereafter, 2 Chainz would begin working on solo endeavors. The first being the 2007 mixtape, Me Against The World. Next up, the double-disc mixtape All Ice On Me, would be released and followed by his two-part Trapavelli series. Both had cameos from the likes of fellow underground kings Bun B and Gucci Mane, as well as his 2009 street hit “Stupid” and the surprise 2010 radio smash “Boo.”
