“The setting of the Øyafestival is insane. It is at the foot of some
lush hills that rise out of the Fjords (ok ocean), and there is a
stretch of Fjord that been made in to a river that surfers as the moat-
like border of the site front end” – The Fader

“A great eclectic mix of bands, in a beautifuk setting in a fantastic
city, Øya is a refreshing alternative to the summer´s rash of mega-
rock gatherings – the small festival with a big heart. See you next
year.” – The Guardian

“One of the hottest festivals in Europe” – Evening Standard

“You’d have to be very curmudgeonly not to enjoy yourself at Øya, this
year extended to three days (and compulsory late nights) and
attracting around nine thousand near-naked perfect physical specimens
in Norway’s hottest week of 2004.” – Uncut Magazine

“among industry insiders, the Øyafestival is the greenest and cleanest
festival in the world” – Virtualfestival.com

ABOUT PAST ØYA FESTIVALS:

-With 70.000 people in 2008, we had no arrests! 3 wasp bites
was the worst that happened (same for the last 10 years actually)
– We were the first Scandinavian festival boasting 100% ecological food
– The largest outdoor music festival in Oslo, the capital of Norway
– More than 1700 volunteers working for the festival
– We are the most environmentally friendly festival in Norway, and hold seminars in London, at SXSW etc… about this important issue.
-We have been sold out in advance since 2002!

The festival is held in the Medieval Park in Oslo,a beautiful spot
surrounded by sandy beaches, the Oslo Fjord to the south, the green
Ekeberg Hill to the east, and Oslo skyline to the west. On the premises
we find, among other things, the ruins of the Maria Church, the seat
of the Bishop of Oslo, dating back to the 11th century. The Medieval
Park is also the place where the capital of Norway was founded a
thousand years ago. The Øya Festival it ‘s only a short walk down to the city centre of Oslo, which creates an exciting rendezvous between nature and culture.

Audience and artists are presented with a festival area of trees, green
grass and water, accompanied by stages, shopping streets and small
shops serving drink and food (prepared – infact! – by the best young
chefs of Oslo). The Eastside, where the Medieval Park is located, is
beyond doubt where the action is when it comes to music, and the area is also the nation ‘s primary cultural melting pot. In the years to
come, several hundred million Norwegian “kroner”, both state and
private, will be invested here, for the development of new housing
areas, and the new Opera House, which is the Medieval Park’s
closest neighbour in the Harbor area.

The Øya Festival is the event of the year when it comes to presenting new and exciting names in Norwegian music, supported by artists of an equal international character. National and international names are presented to a large and devoted audience from all over the country.

The Festival has become an exponent for the Norwegian hot acts of
today and tomorrow, and has proven that Norwegian bands too are ready for international success. The foremost booking people from both Europe and the US have been to the festival, only to have the rumours confirmed: Norwegian music is only getting better and better.

UPCOMING APPEARANCE ON BET’S RAP CITY

Asher Roth, the newest signing in a joint venture with Steve Rifkind’s Loud Records and Scooter Braun, drops his first official mixtape, The Greenhouse Effect, today – Friday the 13th!
