ABOUT DISCO DONNIE:
James “Disco Donnie” Estopinal, Jr. is the founder and CEO of Disco Donnie Presents. DDP is the leading organization in electronic music event production in the United States and beyond. Often considered one of the “Godfathers of EDM,” Disco Donnie has used his eccentricity and ingenuity to establish himself as the pivotal pioneer in event production.
Disco Donnie Presents creates over 1,000 events annually in 100 markets across the country, including both major and smaller than tertiary markets. Donnie has long standing relationships with many of the biggest electronic acts in the world, including Kaskade, Tiesto, Paul Oakenfold, Paul Van Dyk, The Chemical Brothers, and Skrillex.
Since his humble beginnings as a promoter in New Orleans, Donnie Estopinal has been organizing revolutionary electronic music events that push the boundaries and take the experience of electronic music to a whole new level. Since the onset, he has consistently orchestrated elaborately themed parties that garnered a steadily increasing international following. In 2001, he also unwittingly became the catalyst for a national debate around the right to gather and dance in an organized manner and on a large scale. This widely publicized “crack house law” case became front page national news and was a crucial moment in the further development and legality of “raves.”
From his infamous events in New Orleans at the State Palace Theater to his innovative idea to take electronic DJs on the road in an traditional band tour bus, Donnie has used his innate ability to think outside the box to grow his brand, expand into new markets, and reach new audiences.
He is a three-time winner of the illustrious URB Magazine, Promoter of the Year Award, two-time recipient of the “30 Most Influential People in the Industry” by Club Systems Magazine, as well as being named one of “Dance Music’s Most Influential Executives” by Billboard Magazine. Since the early 1990s, Disco Donnie has worked diligently creating the spark that now ignites the entire EDM community.
“I have worked with Donnie Estopinal for nearly 15 years. He is one of my favorite people in the business. We have done many great things together over the years and he has been an essential part of why electronic dance music has progressed to where it is today. His passion has always been dance music from the day he started booking shows in New Orleans, and it’s that passion that has fueled his success. We’re all thankful for his dedication to something that is so important to all of us in the industry.” -Steve Goodgold, The Windish Agency
“Donnie and I have worked together in the electronic music business for many years, since long before the term “EDM” was coined. While his wardrobe could use an upgrade, I can say without hesitation that Donnie is an honorable, stand-up businessman and an all-around great person. When it comes to our world, he is a true visionary, and there is no question that the U.S. electronic music scene owes a great deal to him.” – Paul Morris, Am Only
“We’ve had the pleasure of playing for Disco Donnie since the mid-90s. He continues to deliver the best productions and parties whenever he is involved. We can’t wait to continue this relationship as Donnie takes it to the next level.” – The Crystal Method
“Donnie is the man. A real believer in this music, he has been promoting it for ages, bringing it to places that I never thought it could go. On top of that, he’s a consummate professional – I love the guy.” – Kaskade
