Anticon announces 10th anniversary show in NYC featuring Themselves, Yoni Wolf of WHY?, Buck 65, Sole, Alias, Jel, Odd Nosdam, pedestrian and more!

Anticon’s Third Annual 10 Year Anniversary NYC 12/18 @ The Knitting Factory

A one-night only event of timeless proportions featuring:
Themselves (doseone, Jel), Yoni Wolf of WHY?, Sole, Alias, Buck 65, Odd Nosdam,
pedestrian + special guests!

Much can happen in a decade. Political upheaval, collapse of the free world, a decade of debt, eco-socio warfare, wack emcees bite and blow-up, and the planet might finally understand Anticon. What a run it’s been!

The Knitting Factory, a space heralded for pioneering the avant-garde in all its evolutions, faces its fate. Closing doors to make way for overpriced Tribeca condos and Jamba Juice by the gallon. To celebrate in reverence to both – what better a group of artists to represent that ethos than that original brass of Anticon? A worldly collection of artists, unafraid of their constant critical evaluation, remained steadfast and wry in the face of convention and contemporaries.

For one night on one stage, the constituents assemble, performing a stack of mini-sets merged into what can only be approached as a medley – where fans can only expect the unexpected.

For the first time in over 4 years, we find the this inceptive incarnation re-form with the newly refreshed Themselves duo of doseone and Jel (known more recently for their cryptically trailblazing 6-piece Subtle), Yoni Wolf by his lonesome for the first time in a long one, label-originators Sole & pedestrian, now-Maine re-transplant Alias with the beats and the raps, Canadian-connection Buck 65 returns to the fold, 1/3 cLOUDEAD soloist, Odd Nosdam hits the buttons (aside Jel) live, plus who knows who else. In a monumental encounter that may very well never happen again.

The time is up. The bill is due. Anticon is here.
10 years later.

BUCK 65 ANNOUNCES FALL NORTH AMERICAN TOUR IN SUPPORT OF SITUATION, OUT OCTOBER 30TH ON STRANGE FAMOUS RECORDS

BUCK 65 ANNOUNCES FALL NORTH AMERICAN TOUR IN SUPPORT OF SITUATION, OUT OCTOBER 30TH ON STRANGE FAMOUS RECORDS

Prolific Canadian MC Buck 65 takes to the States in November with a series of live shows in support of his forthcoming full length, Situation, out October 30th on Strange Famous Records.

More info on Strange Famous & Situation:
Strange Famous Records is a new endeavor from renowned musician and savvy businessman, Sage Francis. To those in the know, Sage Francis and Buck 65 openly had the reputation as being foes for a time. Coming full circle, the two are now good friends and Sage Francis, as Buck 65’s biggest advocate, lobbied to release Situation in the United States on his label. After much perseverance, Warner Brothers worldwide gave Sage Francis permission.

Situation will serve as Buck 65’s first LP to be released in the United States since his blow up from This Right Here is Buck 65. In basing the record around the many defining events of 1957, Situation recognizes the true creation of underground and independent culture that happened 50 years ago, and the enticing idea that we are on the cusp of a similar renaissance. And while Buck 65’s music is truly defined by it’s own genre, Situation is a raw and powerful return to classic hip-hop delivered in Buck 65’s prolific and seasoned style.

“Buck 65 has touches of Tom Waits and Beck but an intelligence and humor that are all his own”. – NY TIMES

“His albums are vivid beatscapes full of dirt road narratives & grizzled rhymes, from up-tempo bangers to impressionistic slow ones” -ROLLING STONE
