9th Wonder & Buckshot ‘The Solution’

Murs & 9th Wonder ‘The Final Adventure’

Video of 9th Wonder, Buckshot & Murs Discussing the Project:

Official Press Release:
Grammy award winning producer 9th Wonder is set make November 13th a landmark day in his illustrious career, releasing collaborative albums with Murs and Buckshot simultaneously. The Final Adventure with Murs will serve as the last installment from the popular series that has spanned five projects. The Solutionis the third effort from New York legend Buckshot alongside 9th, who will continue to release more albums together in the future.

“9th Wonder & I have always had good chemistry together. This will be our third collaborative album together and it’s fittingly entitled The Solution,” explains Buckshot. The Solution is “you” because you are the solution to all your problems and to your success or failure…it lies within yourself.”

Murs also provided insight on what the experience of working with 9th Wonder has been like, and why it was time to bring the ever popular series to a close.

“I am honored and blessed to have had the privilege of working with my brother 9th Wonder for five albums and nearly a decade. A type of consistency rarely seen in the music world. We are two very different and strong willed individuals whose love for music and hip hop culture creates a beautiful common ground. I think the fans can feel the love and respect we have for the game and for one another. And I feel that’s why they in turn have continued to show us the same through the years. So why end it here and now? Why is this The Final Adventure? Well there are many individual reasons but overall we both just felt that it was time.”

Known for his extensive work as part of Little Brother, as well as a collaborator with Jay-Z, Destiny’s Child, Erykah Badu and many more, 9th Wonder spoke on releasing two different projects on the same day.

“I think this is the best way to take two separate brands, one I have built with Murs and one that I have built with Buckshot, and not only expose both audiences to each other, but to take those two audiences together with the sounds that I built with the artists, and expose that to the world,” said 9th Wonder. “This is a great day for myself, Murs and Buckshot, because we make the music we believe in for the people who believe in it.”

Murs & 9th Wonder ‘The Final Adventure’ via It’s A Wonderful World Music Group/Traffic Entertainment/KGMG and 9th Wonder & Buckshot ‘The Solution’ via Duck Down Music, will both be released on November 13th.

Hip-Hop Book Drive w/ Tanya Morgan, Buckshot, Skyzoo, Torae and More

On Friday, April 30th Tanya Morgan presents the First Book Charity Concert and Book Drive at Crash Mansion. Curated by Tanya Morgan and Move Forward Music, the book drive concert will feature performances by hip-hop legend Buckshot, his Duck Down labelmates Skyzoo and Torae, and of course the Brooklynati trio themselves, plus many more special guest appearances.

Presented in association with Black Apple Intl., proceeds from the concert will be donated to First Book, a non-profit that provides books to underprivileged kids across the U.S. and Canada. In their 20 years of public service, First Book has donated 65 million books to children in need, combating one of the most significant problems in U.S. literacy and education: access to books. Right now, more than 80% of preschool and after-school programs serving low-income populations have no age-appropriate books for their children, which has led to 30 million people over age 16 in the U.S. who don’t read well enough to understand a newspaper story written at the eighth grade level or fill out a job application.

This is our chance to take part in making a change. Join us for this incredible concert, and get down with the cause!

When: Friday, April 30th 7:30 – 10pm
Where: Crash Mansion, 199 Bowery
Admission: $12 (donated to First Book), Used Books also welcome!

Blitz the Ambassador & Das Racist at Le Poisson Rouge – 5/13

Blitz the Ambassador
Ghanaian artist Blitz the Ambassador gained popularity with his 2009 release “Stereotype”, recognized as Album of the Year by The Society of Cinema and Arts. Blitz tests the limits of hip hop with his use of live instruments, heavily influenced by Ghanaian High Life, creating a complex sound of cross-cultural musical exploration. He performs live with the six-piece Embassy Ensemble.

Das Racist
Brooklyn-based trio whose deconstructionist
approach to music has everyone from the New York Times to Perez Hilton scratching their heads, and ultimately, bopping them. Part high art, part dance music, and entirely hip hop, the group is fresh off the release of their debut mixtape “Shut Up, Dude” and is already changing the face of rap music as we know it.

GRAMMY AWARD WINNING PRODUCER DOC ISH TO RELEASE THE FIRST TREATMENT THE FIRST TREATMENT WILL BE RELASED ON MAY 11th, 2010

GRAMMY AWARD WINNING PRODUCER DOC ISH TO RELEASE THE FIRST TREATMENT THE FIRST TREATMENT WILL BE RELASED ON MAY 11th, 2010

Star-Studded LP Features Appearances From Jay Electronica, Joe Budden, Crooked I, Sean Price, Joell Ortiz, Talib Kweli, Bun B, Max B, Saigon, Nipsey Hussle, KRS-One, Kool G Rap, Buckshot, Bizarre and many more

A bit of a transient, Doc Ish is from a little bit of everywhere. Born in Dallas, TX, then onto places such as Virginia, and Brooklyn NY and everywhere in between, it has been Hartford, CN that Doc has always returned to and calls home. Doc signed his first deal as a senior in High-School and soon thereafter moved to NY where he was introduced to a slew of industry talents and had the opportunity to work with artists such Heavy D, Kurupt and Foxy Brown to name a few.

Since then, Doc has lost a lot of time, “years,” in regards to his music career. For years, he was jumping from doctor to doctor, hospital to hospital, trying to figure out why his health would take such dramatic shifts and leave him in an almost debilitating state. Lying in hospital beds, with nothing but time on his hands while his various health problems were both diagnosed and treated, Doc’s health eventually got better and when it did, so did his hunger for making music. When Doc re-entered the scene in 2008, he did so with a renewed vigor and his networking lead to meetings with various artists, one of which, D-12’s Bizarre, would eventually change his world as he then knew it upside down. After recording sessions with Bizarre, Doc received a call from him that a certain Detroit superstar heard one of his tracks and immediately gravitated to it. That track was what you know as “We Made You” the lead-single from Eminem’s Grammy award winning LP Relapse, which has since gone 2X Platinum and re-vaulted Eminem back into the national spotlight after a five-year hiatus.

Despite the overwhelming changes that have occurred since “We Made You” hit the masses, Doc Ish has remained humble and hungry throughout the process and is determined to capitalize on the opportunity and use it as a stepping-stone. The timing and subsequent spotlight that has been affixed to Doc’s back ever since was ideal for the forthcoming release of Doc Ish Presents: The First Treatment which will be released on 5-11-2010.

The First Treatment includes a collection of iconic and legendary emcees that would make a major label blush, let alone one of an Independent nature. While “Cut My Throat” f/Saigon, INS Deck, Ransom and Quan has already made an immediate impact on the urban blogosphere, fans are already salivating over the LP’s assortment of talent and eagerly awaiting to hear tracks such as the dream-team pairings of Jay Electronica, Crooked I & Sean Price (“She Did It Again”) and Bun B, Joe Budden and Talib Kweli on “Is It A Dream.”

Doc Ish believes that music is cathartic and creating this project proves as much and The First Treatment is the next step in curing Hip-Hop’s ailments.

Nas + Marsha Ambrosius – If I Rule The World ’09 (Smirnoff Signature Mix)

New York, NY – The makers of Smirnoff vodka announced the launch of the second annual Smirnoff Signature Mix Series, a campaign designed to bring together respected artists in the hip hop community to recreate clearly original versions of iconic hip hop songs, with newly-mixed interpretation. Legendary artist Nas is teaming up with Marsha Ambrosius, formerly of Floetry, to rework his Grammy-nominated single “If I Ruled the World”; Buckshot and Kardinal Offishall are putting an original spin on Buckshot’s memorable underground hit “I Got Cha Opin”; and Nice & Smooth are joining musical forces with Pac Div to create a new interpretation of “Funky For You”.

The Smirnoff Signature Mix Series is part of the brand’s ongoing commitment to foster and promote both established and emerging musical talent. This is the second installment of the acclaimed program. Last year’s Smirnoff Signature Mix Series celebrated reworked classics by acclaimed artists Common, Q-Tip, and KRS-One paired with renowned producers Just Blaze, Cool & Dre, and DJ Premier. These exclusive tracks reached millions of radio listeners and nearly 90,000 visitors to SmirnoffSignatureMixSeries.com downloaded the singles.

“It was a pleasure working with Nas again,” said Marsha Ambrosius. “Smirnoff gave us a great opportunity to put a new twist on a classic record, and I’m excited to be a part of the project this year.”

The first single will launch on Smirnoff.com beginning March 5th, and all three songs will be available for free download exclusively on the site. Smirnoff Signature Mix Series is a comprehensive program supported by radio, digital, and video promotion as well as out of home advertising and retail point of sale. The program will be activated nationally in cities including New York, Atlanta, Washington D.C and others. Top-tier radio and club deejays across the country will also receive a limited edition vinyl album containing all three new songs.

“We’re really looking forward to adding onto the success of last year’s Signature Mix Series with these six artists, and coming up with some clearly original, reworked songs to add to the campaign,” said David Tapscott, Brand Director – Smirnoff. “We love to reach out to consumers in unique ways, and this is a perfect way of inserting the brand naturally into our consumer’s lifestyle.”

The Smirnoff Signature Mix Series held an exclusive press event in New York City last night to unveil the three new songs. B-Real of Cypress Hill Preps SMOKE N MIRRORS For A February 24th, 2009 Release Featuring Snoop Dogg, Damian Marley, Buckshot, Kurupt, Too Short, Sen Dog, & Young De

B-Real, a rapper of Mexican and Afro-Cuban heritage, is best known for being the lead rapper in the hip hop group Cypress Hill. Since the group’s formation in 1988, the pioneering rap-rock quartet Cypress Hill — founders B-Real, DJ Muggs, and Sen Dog, along with newest member Eric Bobo — have come a long way from the streets of South Central L.A. Over the course of its 17-year history, Cypress Hill has sold more than 17 million albums worldwide, including more than 11 million records in the U.S. alone. The group has garnered 15 multi-platinum, platinum and gold certifications from the RIAA; headlined Lollapalooza, Woodstock and the group’s own Smokin’ Grooves tour. B-Real has appeared on “Saturday Night Live,” all the while breaking down the musical and cultural barriers between hip-hop, alternative, metal, rock, reggae, ska and Latin music.

Recently, B-Real, along with Cypress Hill received a VH1 Hip Hop Honors, to celebrate the vision and innovation that the group continues to bring to Hip Hop, strengthening its force around the world. Other artists honored in 2008 were De La Soul, Naughty By Nature, Slick Rick and Too Short.

In B-Real’s first ever solo effort, “SMOKE N MIRRORS”, he wanted to showcase his musical talent over beats produced by Alchemist, Scoop Deville, & Sick Jacken (from Psycho Realm). B-Real produced several songs on the project as well, including the lead track “FIRE” with Damian Marley. “Smoke N Mirrors” also features tracks with Snoop Dogg, Buckshot, Kurupt, Too Short, Sen Dog, of Cypress Hill, & Young De.

B-Real is confident his fans will appreciate “Smoke N Mirrors” stating: “I am excited to be putting out my first solo project. It’s been in the works for a while now. I want to show my fans a different side to my creative abilities including my own production. I am also excited to have teamed up with Duck Down. They have a strong team and I believe they will push my project to the fullest.”

Two Videos will be filmed off “Smoke N Mirrors” for “Don’t Ya Dare Laugh” featuring Young De and “FIRE” featuring Damian Marley.
