Busta Rhymes – E.L.E. review

Busta Rhymeswritten by Plus One

It really hasn’t been too long since we last saw Busta on the scene with an album. In September of this year he contributed in a big way to his group the Flipmode Squad’s album ‘The Imperial’ and his last solo was just released around October time 1997. Now he’s out with a new CD. Why? Because he thinks the year 2000 is the year in which the world will end. Those who are fans of Busta will by now have noticed that he is deeply convinced that something big and bad will happen in the not too distant future. His first solo CD; ‘The Coming’ was on about the coming of the end. His second CD; ‘When Disaster Strikes’ was, well I really don’t need to explain that one and his latest album; ‘E.L.E’ could possibly be the last in the saga.

Flipmode Squad – The Imperial review

Busta Rhymeswritten by Hugo Lunny

If I were to say to you that this is a deep (with the exception of ‘Do For Self’), lyrically revolutionary album then I would be lying to you, take a look at Busta’s musical history, can you honestly tell me that he flows with a lot of lyrical depth – no! The thing is though, hip hop doesn’t have to be extremes, it doesn’t need to be either very intellectual and lyrical vicious (the rough definition of hardcore rap) or the exact opposite (the definition of what’s known as ‘commercial rap) it can be a mixture of the two and it can on the whole be funny and enjoyable. Well, that’s what this album is.

Busta Rhymes – The Big Bang Review

Busta Rhymeswritten by Plus One

Busta Rhymes is an extremely accomplished artist. He pretty much honed and dominated the image of a hyper rapper within the mainstream through his singles like “Woo Hah” and “Dangerous” amongst many others. Having schmoozed and collaborated with some of the biggest names around, Busta jumped ship from J Records and joined the Aftermath roster. With Dr. Dre and a lengthy list of guests, “The Big Bang” is actually not as bad as I was expecting.

Busta Rhymes – Genesis review

Busta Rhymeswritten by Low Key

Ever since his days with The Leaders Of The New School, Busta Rhymes has always been larger than life. He posses a unique combination of raw energy, charisma and a flamboyant personality. Add all these together and you have one of the most dominant figures in the Hip-Hop world today. Busta has always had a savvy technique of being able to reach the pop world with music, while at the same time keeping it real with his roots, the streets. Lately however, Busta’s knack for producing solid albums and huge hits has taken a nose dive. Ever since he released “The Coming” in 96′, Busta has slowly deteriorated with each release. The final straw coming with the commercial and critical flop “Anarchy”. Most thought Busta should take some needed time off so he could regroup after his recent flop and come back with something truly worthwhile. It seemed the Hip-Hop world was getting a little tired with Busta, and his overzealous work ethic saturated the market to excess. But if there’s one thing we know about Busta is that he’s no conventional emcee. And only a little over a year after his last release, Busta has returned with his fifth album “Genesis”.
