The Toxic Avenger Debut LP ANGST Out Today via Little Owl Recordings

“a punchy, electro-pop hybrid with grand ambitions (that’s nerd for “arena-ready”), welding together the Temper Trap’s soldiering tempos and Phoenix’s inescapable pop sensibilities”
– SPIN

French DJ and producer Simon Delacroix, better known as The Toxic Avenger, produces music that speaks to the darkest depths of the imagination, fusing a chilling mix of pulsing electronic music and crime scene noir. Following the release of two buzzed-about singles last year, The Toxic Avenger has unleashed his first full-length album, ANGST, today via Little Owl Recordings. Bursting with the sinister, genre-bending sound for which Delacroix is known, ANGST is now available on iTunes and all other digital retailers.

Album track “3,2,1” is a thumping, ghostly track that offers a glimpse into Toxic’s dark world with a shimmering ethereal breakdown. For a taste of Toxic’s haunting signature sound, check out the “3,2,1” MP3.

ANGST opens with “Nu 1553,” an energetic track that takes listeners on a jolting ride with punctuating bursts of synth and an erratic beat. “Angst One” picks up right where the opening track leaves off before slowing into an eerie, unsettling swirl of strings that shriek with a sense of urgency and forewarning. “Alien Summer” is an electro-pop gem with airy guest vocals by Annie floating above a pulsating dance beat. Vocal melodies shine on “Never Stop,” with its infectious, anthem-like chorus hovering above layers of synth that cut through the silence like a knife. The North American version of ANGST also features special remixes of “3,2,1” by Beat Torrent and Equateur.

In addition to sharing stages with artists like Diplo, MSTRKRFT, Bloody Beetroots and Crystal Castles, The Toxic Avenger has made a name for himself remixing tracks by Ladytron, Benny Benasi, Chromeo and others. Stay tuned for more exciting news from The Toxic Avenger as he spreads his reign of terror across the US!

New Saukrates album Season One

Saukrates Announces Release Of New Album Season One

Architect of Canadian Hip-Hop Drops First Of Three-Part Album Series

Canadian hip-hop veteran Saukrates is excited to announce the upcoming release of his new album, Season One. The album will be released in three parts; the first and second parts will each contain three songs and the full album, which will contain the first six songs plus six new songs will be released the first quarter of 2012. The first part contains the songs “Drop It Down” featuring Redman, “Say I,” and “Na Na Na” is available now through a joint partnership between Frostbyte and eOne.

Saukrates, a Toronto-native who played an integral part in shaping much the country’s hip-hop scene, made the transition from childhood violin prodigy to serious MC in the late 1990s. He met close friend Redman in 2000, and by 2005 had been featured on How High soundtrack with Red and Method Man, produced for the likes of Nas and Kardinal Offishall, and toured with fellow Canuck Nelly Furtado on her 2006 Loose Tour. And before Young Money fame, Saukrates was showing Drake the ropes, introducing him to other soon-to-be famous artists like Toronto producer Noah “40” Shebib.

Saukrates, who has long contributed to the meteoric rise of his Canadian cohorts, is proud to release his own upcoming album, Season One. Much of the production comes from both Saukrates and his Toronto comrade Rich Kidd, who also produced Soxx’ single “Say I,” which was recently used in Nike’s Always On 24/7 campaign. Featured artists on the trilogy’s first installment include Redman, OB O’Brien, Michelle Nyce, Richie Hennessey and Andreena Mill. Says Saukrates of the album, ‘I’ve gone back to the basics… sharing simple melodies and interesting stories is what I’ve always done best and enjoyed the most. When it calls for collaborations I let that happen naturally. Friends and associates I’ve been anxious to work with and vise versa make it easy to accomplish my ‘lofty’ ideas!”

After working with each other for 11 years, Redman joins Saukrates once again in Season One’s first video and lead single, “Drop It Down.” The visual harkens back to the days of the iconic iPod commercials: fluorescent colored backgrounds against the distinguishable silhouettes of Soxx, Red, and a couple of ladies. And don’t let the animated doodles Sauk made using Nintendo DSI fool you; the song is bona fide club-ready.

The Background:

With a career in hip-hop spanning well over 15 years, emcee/producer/songwriter Saukrates is one of Canada’s most influential and important musical figures. At the age of 16, Saukrates had begun rhyming over his own homegrown production, pressing CDs independently and scraping money together for studio time. His hard work paid off and by 1996 Saukrates had won his first Juno Award for Best Rap Recording. After working with such notable figures as Redman, Nelly Furtado and Drake over the years, Saukrates is ready to make his latest release: Season One his best yet. The album will arrive in three parts, beginning with an EP at the close of 2011 and complete with the full album come 2012

Mad Rad x Douster “The Youth Die Young” Remixes

MAD RAD THE YOUTH DIE YOUNG (DOUSTER REMIXES) FREE DOWNLOAD

Lyon, France based tropical dance DJ/producer and global bass alchemist, Douster releases remix EP of Mad Rad’s The Youth Die Young. Tied closely to Zizek Records after spending two years in Buenos Aries, Douster takes cues from his love of hardstyle, house, bass, cumbia, dancehall, and rap to transform club music into a sonic gumbo. Douster has put out remixes for Rusko, Gucci Mane, Toddla T, and released singles with Diplo, Savage Skulls, and Chilean producers Zonora Point. Now, he puts his spin on the electronic hip hop rumble of Seattle’s Mad Rad. The remixes see Douster veering into future Chicago house, half time speed merengue / half space juke, Miami acid bass house, and ambient 808 machine funk. The Douster and Mad Rad combination is a mix you can sink your ears into.

Mad Rad is a Seattle based group that has shaken up west coast hip hop with their combination of electronic focused dance music and frenzied live show. The Youth Die Young is their second full length album, and the band has been supporting it hard by relentlessly touring and playing the Northwest’s largest festivals. Douster got to know Mad Rad’s music after playing a show with the group’s DJ, Darwin in 2009. They exchanged music over the next couple years, chopped it up over Flocka’s new mix tapes, and established a like-minded musical rapport. Douster touched down in Seattle earlier this year for a show, and when he heard tracks off the new record first hand in the studio, it became obvious remixes needed to happen. Now, for your free downloadable listening pleasure, we give to you: Douster’s The Youth Die Young remixes.

2. The Machine
3. Jungle Cat
4. I Want Your Blood

Active Child Announces Release Of Debut Album, You Are All I See, On August 23 via Vagrant Records Listen To “Playing House (ft. How To Dress Well)” Now

Active Child Announces Release Of Debut Album, You Are All I See, On August 23 via Vagrant Records Listen To “Playing House (ft. How To Dress Well)” Now

Active Child is pleased to announce the release of his debut album You Are All I See on August 23 via Vagrant Records. The album was produced by Ariel Rechtshaid and features 10 new tracks. The album comes as a follow-up to last year’s critically-acclaimed Curtis Lane EP. See below for full track-listing.

One of those tracks, “Playing House,” is a collaboration with lo-fi r&b singer How To Dress Well and was recently premiered on Pitchfork. Listen to the song over at Active Child’s website, www.activechildmusic.com.

The Fader praised the song highly, noting “The cascading piano line that introduces this duet is too perfect, spiraling like an Alice in Wonderland techno-trip into fantasy R&B, like spelunking the deep internet without a safety USB cord. Pairing bedroom falsetto connoisseurs Active Child and How to Dress Well, “Playing House” rivals heights of collaborative Auto-warble last seen in Kanye’s weird work with Bon Iver. The boys always threaten to take homage over-the-top, but “Playing House” is undeniable magic.”

Active Child is the musical project from choirboy-turned-indie pop musician Pat Grossi. His debut collection of songs featured the skilled use of various 80s-tinged synths to create ethereal, soaring soundscapes, punctuated by crisp electronic drum samples and handclaps. All of this lays the groundwork for Grossi’s exquisite vocals, which, with their unearthly sound and evocative lyrics, take on an enchanting, hymnal quality that would not be out of place amongst the richly colored sunlight of a church’s stained-glass interior.

You Are All I See Track Listing

1. You Are All I See
2. Hanging On
3. Playing House (ft. How To Dress Well)
4. See Thru Eyes
5. High Priestess
6. Call Me Tonight
7. Way Too Fast
8. Ancient Eye
9. Shield & Sword
10. Johnny Belinda

Afer releasing four successful leaks (“Overcome”, “Henry VIII”, “Bring It All Down”, “New King”) over the past 12 months, generating close to 50,000 Facebook Likes, Toronto rapper Drega has released his highly anticpated project Man of the Year.

The 10 song project features all original productions entirely crafted by Drega himself and The Anime Boyz producer Neo Tempus. “Some may see it as a weakness that I decided to produce the whole album with just myself and another person, but from an artist development stand point, it helped me craft my sound and hopefully become a true artist”, states Drega.

This attention to defining a sound is crucial element thoughout Man of the Year, as the majority of the record includes personal songs such as “Overcome”, “Bring It All Down”, “Take Me Home” and “The Moment”. “Simply put, this is a story about a kid born in India, who moves to Canada, goes through all kind of ups and downs, and yet still has a smile on his face.” proclaims Drega.

Features include Juno-nominated The Kid Famous on the ode to fake relationships “Ain’t My Girl” and South Asian rapper by way of New York, Nivla on the hyperactive joint “Superhard”. Chrome Canyon (aka Morgan Z, Apes & Androids former keyboardist) is announcing the release of his debut LP, Elemental Themes out this summer. In the meantime he has offered the first single “Branches” available for free download at SoundCloud.

Following Apes & Android’s 2009 breakup, Morgan Z began his own recording studio in Brooklyn, where he started collecting vintage synthesizers. Honing his solo project in the studio, he collaborated with Phoebe Oglesbee, and Tyler Thacker from Greatest Hits who drums on the album. Chrome Canyon’s sound is heavily layered with analog synths weaving in a psychedelic pastiche of Kraftwerk, Vangelis, Giorgio Moroder and Pink Floyd and one can expect to hear it in an epic soundtrack fashion on Elemental Themes. In honor of Kate Bush’s “Director’s Cut” release, Chrome Canyon and vocalist Phoebe Oglesbee have teamed up to cover “Suspended in Gaffa.” They will also be working together on an EP this summer with more details to come.
